UDP move against Bush
(CNS): The loyalty of the UDP parliamentary members to the premier reportedly cracked this weekend and it is understood that the caucus has ousted McKeeva Bush from office. Having been silent for five days on the issue and with Bush’s continued refusal to resign in the wake of his arrest, party members began moves to push Bush from the party leadership. Although no official announcement has yet been made, it appears that the UDP has finally agreed to replace him with Juliana O’Connor, while back-bencher Cline Glidden is tipped to take on Bush’s portfolio. Rolston Anglin, who is facing his own legal troubles with a DUI charge, will take on the post of deputy premier .
The UDP members are expected to be meeting with the governor this morning however, It is not clear if Bush has accepted the party’s decision and whether he will be taking a back-bench government seat. Nor is it certain that the UDP will continue to stay united in the decision to force the premier out of office. If not, any division will see the UDP administration fall as it will not be able to command a majority and therefore force early elections.
The opposition leader wrote to the speaker on Friday asking her to call a special meeting of the Legislative Assembly to debate the situation with a no confidence motion. There is still no word on whether or not Mary Lawrence will take the step of calling the emergency meeting of the country’s parliament in face of the national political crisis without direction from the government .
With the eyes of the world on Cayman and the premier’s arrest, along with his subsequent defiance and protestations of innocence that the arrest is fuelled by a vindictive governor and political enemies, there has been increasing pressure on the UDP to remove him.
Check back to CNS for more on this story.

I hope somebody thought to check with Mr. Dart to make sure he approves of all this nonsense. Don't want to upset him cuz we know he run tings
I don't care about any of this. I ain't giving my washing machine back.
Please order more than you did last election, because the new caymanians are anxiously awaiting their freebies. We use to dem handouts. Laud hasten the time for the freeness.
Don't worry, Julianna Oconner-Connelly-Conner-Oconner won't take over becuase there won't be any government or any country to lead. Doesn't anyone remember? She said the rapture was due any day now.
Either way, we can be sure of one thing: We're doomed.
Is it really true that the Government built a room on some Politicians house for one of their staff? Lets hope that rumour is not true?
If anyone thinks McKeeva is going away soon, they have another thought coming. All McKeeva has to do is fade away while things "sort themselves out."
He will be returned at the next election and I can assure you, he will be the Premier (or is that Derriere) again.
Folks, I've seen the playbook, read it and read it again.
Remember the FCB fiasco, what happened? Let me remind you. McKeeva was implicated, stepped down and then came back.
Why would any of you listen to me? What the heck do I know? LMAO. Please don't delete this post. You are all going to be amazed come the next election.
Authorization code, "Unicorn Papa Yankee Oscar Unicorn Romeo Sierra."
Engage!
And when this whole shoddy affair has passed, the main protaganists will still be allowed to refer to themselves as 'honourable'.
Dear Lord not Julianna – the Jezebel herself. Now I know that they have all gone completely mad. If you think that Mac is bad omg just wait and see what she does. Please say it is not so . May God help us
We need a consultant from the UK to sort this out as we are so effin useless, apparently, we can't do it ourselves. How pathetic.
CNS. How on earth did you get this photo?
I just used my spectrum analyser and did spectrum analysis on it.
The analyzer says that the large jug by Rolly contains vodka and club soda.
While it might appear that Ju Ju is twindling her thumbs the analyzer actually says that she is sending a text to Paul which says: 'Baby Boo, Dont forget to buy the beer and three pizzas for tonight'…
Him: "hmmmmm 2 +2 = … "
Her: "Can't let Rollie see my answer"
So their plan is to appoint the government's second biggest money waster as premier, and a man currently before the courts on serious criminal charges as deputy? That is their plan to show that corruption and illegal activity won't be tolerated?
Juliana O’Connor is being investigated for….wait for it….misuse of public money! And she is strongly suspected by almost everyone with at least 2 of their 5 senses of abusing the travel perks of office to take lavish holidays with her, er, um, driver.
Rolston Anglin appeared to try and deliberately mislead the police about his car crash then when that failed shamelessly claimed prayer had helped him find the true course. And he has never revealed the identity of the mystery woman in the car who was the only witness. Apparently God told him to keep his mouth shut about her.
And these people get a promotion? They are as bad, if not worse, than McKeeva.
OMG Juliana O'Connor, can we get any worse?????
You'll know it's for real when Mac's office chair is replaced with a bigger one.
That’s funny! …… Or a steam roller seat
By the time UDP is ready to make an announcement rising sea levels may have made the role of Premier redundant.
Evolution at its finest.
whats taking so long?? UDP chickened out again? I thought this would be done by now!!!
The news media is doing a good job of acting as a UK agent to destroy high profile Caymanians. A true statement. in my opinion there are MIT’s planted in pretty much every Media outlet in the territories to ensure the people are confused, divided and conquered!
They are here! British voices everywhere, making comments, on every media outlet, Cayman 27, CNS, Compass, even Talk Today! Its no coincidence! Do not be brain washed by these who seek to take over the Cayman Islands. Its a bold takeover, and the Premier is the guinea pig! The man has not been charged with anything stop celebrating prematurely and sentencing the premier in the court of a confused and Divided Court of public opinion! We are smarter than that.
Everyone! Don the tin foil hats!!
Give it a rest Joey
Keep telling yourself that Darling.
Wow the conspiracy theorists always provide the best entertatinment when things get serious – after Baldric of course : ).
Would the irrational poster at 16:37 care to share any factual evidence they have to support their claims?
I bet you believe the world ends this Friday and Santa Claus does exist.
Gosh, I didn't realise that I typed with an british accent
I have been rumbled. Darn it. Although I did not go to MIT. All that effort to require "good governance". Purest evil that was.
Well obviously you aren't !
This is about what is BEST for our country and people, and not the interests of one man (the Premier), who displays sudo-Treacherous behavoiur and a lack of Integrity.
Some people bring happiness wherever they go…others when they go.
I'm sorry folks and I dont want to be the bearer of bad news.
But I just checked the vault and our 30 pieces of silver is missing. I just did an FOI and also called all the casinos in the Manila area to find out if anyone was recently using silver to gamble.
I will get back to you when I hear back from them…
Oh no, but it is a good start!
While we applaud the vote by the UDP caucus to remove the incumbent Premier, we have to put country first above all this. The world is looking to see what the country will be doing this coming election.
This coming elections has dire consequences, especially to repair the potential negative impact on the financial services industry, investor confidence, real estate industry etc. In order to start afresh, the voting population will have to remove the current administration, to salvage the reputation of the Cayman Islands. The current administration has done too much damage to be allowed a second term albeit they have taken a bold stance to remove the incumbent Premier. For those who do not see an alternative, they will have to make a bold decision by swallowing hard, and do what is right for the our beloved Cayman Islands.
Let us look forward to better days to come. The power is in our hands this coming elections.
Please register to vote and let us make a change.
Get real. The world couldn't care less. Mild curiosity at most.
C4C nice try but the green from the money is on your hands too
The questions that come to mind after seeing this article and as it sinks in are: Why does it take so long to come to a decision like this? Do politicians have a separate set of rules for themselves? Do they live by a different degree of morality and justice? I believe that for too long we have allowed this to take place forgetting that it is ourselves they are supposed to represent ie. we pay them. It is our laws they are supposed to uphold and our regulations they are supposed to follow. It's curious that, once in office, they seem to neglect or forget all of the above. We witness this continuously. It's obvious these items were not part of the discussion taking place within the UDP. The days long discussion probably centered around "is there anyone… who isn't under suspicion or competent enough that we could call on?" and "how do we maintain our positions (and our salaries) while making it appear we take this seriously?" Many probably thought "there but for the grace of God go I." If that is true and we want integrity and honesty in government we must therefore insist on it. Demand it and not wait for it to happen. This escapade with the Premier is a wake up call for everyone and a test for our politicians. Come the next election, we must not allow the campaigns, as often happens, to resort to "finger-pointing" or personal attacks being used in lieu of statements of proposed policies. Listen.. all you politicians….we already know the failings! We have lived through them! We have struggled to survive them. We know about the lack of integrity! If you can't or are unable to clearly speak to what solutions you have then don't waste our time. If all you can come up with is "finger-pointing" and "they did this" and "they did that"… you don't deserve our votes. We want, and demand action… we don't want promises or declarations. We want to hear what direction you're going to take. Clearly spoken. And how you're going to get there. In other words… don't just re-shuffle the cards. Which is what the UDP have just done.
Great news!!!! I need my driveway paved!! Where do I vote… I mean get in line for the free stuff?
Once the Premier is removed two things MUST happen.
1. Take down the "Premier's Residence" sign from in front of his house.
2. Either remove the Christmas lights from his residence which we all paid for or
make him pay the electric bill out of his own pocket.
Honestly…thats ALL you are worried about?
I hardly think that that is all anyone is worried about – HOWEVER! the 2 items mentioned are clear VISIBLE signs to the general population that change is not only imminent but on its way.
I have visions of the big man himself clinging to the sign crying as the workman take it down. "please don't take my sign down"…..
Maybe we can place the word "Former" in very small letters on it and let him keep the sign. Just like we let him keep "Honourable".
The trappings of being "premier" all all Mac worries about. He has spent ridiculous amount of our money on his residence. It should stop the minute he is no longer premier. My guess is he is now negotiating keeping these perks. If he is allowed to, another black eye for the UDP!!
You Dufuss…..
Please can I volunteer to 'hep' take down the christmas lights?
Or both, preferrably.
And the 'Security Fence'.
Now wouldn't it be an even better Christmas present to hear that the PPM was ousting Alden and replacing him with Moses….
Cayman Brac for the first time would be in charge that can' t be a bad thing, although my first preference would be to have Cline and Mike on the UDP side and Moses and …well who knows …not much left there as far as PPM.
What I am talking about…Let's just start all over with new fresh elections..Let the chips fall where they may!
No difference there…..
What we need to do is Abolish the 'Party System' of politics and return to independent representatives.
We shoud also Vote Seperately for Premier, similar to how the USA votes.
Thats why the Party system is bad for a small country
If it were not for the party system being loyal to the party
this could have been resolved by now, and the government
could reach across the isle and select someone to become a minister
instead of having to choose from a bunch of self centered party members.
Exactly! Nailed it on the head there, just like what happened to Mac when the First Cayman Bank scandal went down. None of this hush hush rubbish, just "you've done your country bad or are cought up in a matter that a Govt member should not be therefore good bye" He should've never been able to continue serving in Govt. after that and worse to have such a high position of power, but that's a whole other topic.
Reaching across the Isle? Is that like from Cayman Brac to Little Cayman?
Da da Send in the clowns dee da da dum da
I don't know why Cayman even needs a Premier. Unless they are preparing for the day they declare independence from Great Britain and they can immediately bow to their Dictator. This drama is better than anything on television!
Uh, it is not a drama. It is a soap opera.
….not as funny as Prime Minister's Questions! Brown v Cameron anyday ! In fact the new government should enstate this every week as well!
Agree that the term "premier" is not needed and only contributes arrogance…especially when bestowed on those who should never be in the position to begin with. The title of Chief Minister is far more appropriate. That is after all what he/she is!
However we could also question the term "Great Britain". Wouldn't Britain do?
Reming me! What does UDP stand for?
United! – I don't think so
Democratic! – not sure having a dictator as leader qualifies.
Why not just call it P?
how about you learn to spell
Now, now, clearly a tryping orrer, rather than bad smelling 😉
How about you learn some courtesy and grammar?
UDP = underachieving dumbass peasants
Get these idiots out of office!
All I hear is Benny Hill music and people scurrying around aimlessly
Will they be appointing a new Speaker of the House?
Seriously, do we really need a Speaker? There has been none for the past 3 1/2 years. We could save that salary and associated benefits.
Therehas been worse than none. We have had a Speaker with a negative value. A coconut sitting in the Speaker's chair would have done a better job.
This is a very good move. The roads will be safer this holiday season now that Rolston has a driver.
So does Paul come with the position of Deputy?
Eh, that will be my job, I got there first and I'm a tbc (true blood caymanian, not one of those paper once)
But I do not start before 9:30, with the morning rush hour etc., and I need to leave by 4:30, again who wants to sit in the evening rush hour.
I'll take my lunch at 11:30, I mean have you seen those queues at Fosters if you get there any later …, and will be back to work at 2:30, after my afternoon nap.
And no evenings or weekends please.
Plus 20 days paid leave, which I will take straight away, I know there are not enough days left in this calendar year, but you can pay me the remaining days before xmas with my annual bonus, and carry over my sick days, which I will have to take in January in order to recover from the festivities.
I will then have to take my annual leave for 2013, and my sick leave to recover, by which time the cabinet will be disolved for the elections and you won't need me any more.
Looking foward to being your driver.
This is UDPs solution?
Lord alive!
This don’t make no sense.
Is this the best they could come up with to restore credibility hahahaaaaaaaaaa!
I guess the pickings were slim when they started searching for a UDP mla who is not embroiled in scandal or investigation.
Mark and Joke Joke were technically not eligible for office (AG declined to pursue election writ default on behalf of the people); Julianna is under investigation for alleged illegal paving and misuse of government funds; Last Call Rolly lied to court and should be prosecuted for lying to police/ pervertingcourse of justice; Foolio and CG did the failed CHEC port deal negotiations which the FCO stopped; Capt. Eugene is ever lost at sea; Mike Adam with his 8000 people on welfare draining government finances….
So, yea… Real Slim Pickings if you looking for decency or integrity within UDP
Why wait 'til May – let the Country decide now!
Well this seals it, I am voting PPM. I hear the C4C are already out recruiting the remnants of the UDP. Well C4C you can have them, I am going to get my PPM membership form today!
as far as i am concerned C4C constitutes largely of persons who has enhanced their living off the UDP. All these "business people" saw it fine to quietly support a dictator and his inept government. Now that things are getting too hot they have distanced themselves from the UDP and Mr. Bush.
Caymanians, if voting for change means putting in government UDP loyalists is this a change that we desire? They are half of the reason why the UDP is falling, they were all "yes men" looking after their own interests. Why do we expect anything else to change. Can you imagine we will also have persons who control business interests in the country in charge of our political system. That is called exchanging one dictatorship for another kind.
They should agree to put Edzzar Miller as Premier and give Rolly a chance at the second in command. With Mr. Miller in the Premier position and no cabinet titles around him, then he would just have to look over the various proposals and have a better chance to detect if somthing wrong is proposed. This way they are not electing somone that they know can agree with them just for sake of agreeing. The country can continue with the current EXCO/Cabinets members in there positions for stability, and its not as if they have anything going on. So once the PPM is back in rule position then they can just continue with what they started and UDP was not able to continue. UDP has nothing to show, PPM assets are all visible. The choice for Edzzar is not about politics but more of a netural position for stability. again, not all PPM or UDP agree with Mr. Miller so both sides would almost be seeking for his vote to gain majority in most cases. I do feel sorry for the UDP members, they will go down in history as MLAs that ran for office once and no more. They would not be able to hold there heads high after this, since they choose there Leader over country in all cases. Its as if the Premier was right in every way. Must be some serious information that they holding against each other. Remember what most Dictators end with, "If Im going down,, im taking the whole of unna with me" mentality. So UDP members you still have time to make it right with the country, this too shall pass, might even be enough time to make some good towards the country, and what a day of rejoicing that would be.
Problem with Ezzard is he is all hot air and no substance. He has integrity, but his track record is to put forward solutions that frankly scare the heck out of me. Many many times, I have heard people on here and elsewhere suggesting he stick to his bar stool in North Side. You've heard of the medical term "blunt force trauma"? Thats Ezzard. He leans way too right wing for me.
Congratulations, UDP. We, the entire Cayman Public, would like to confirm that you are finally doing what is in the very best interests of your premier, yourselves, the Cayman islands and it's people, and the world at large.
Now we can vote the UDP back in.
Please give me the name of your dealer…that is so real quality grade you smoking if you think anybody with sense would elect these jackasses back in!
Warning to Cayman: please do not celebrate just yet,and always remember that those who laugh last laugh best, the poster inviting people to party at PPM headquarters should hope and pray that celebration doesn't turn out to be a calamity(future destruction of Cayman). Please do not ignore or ridicule,You all have been warned.Lamentations
At least the party at PPM is BYOB, if it was the UDP we would be facing new taxes to pay for it. I say we party like it 1999 because Mack the tyrant is going and those who supported him for so long are going to. See ya at the party BOBO!!!!
Warning to idiot: Most people on Grand Cayman are not idiots.
As a young Caymanian this is disturbing for me. For one if they can turn against their own leader who they stood up for countless times and ridiculed other caymanians who spoke out against him, then they can easily turn against the Caymanian people. Two if you can remove the premier who was arrested, NOT formally charged, says he is NOT guilty but then vote to put Rolsten Anglin as Deputy Premier who was arrested, charged, pleads guilty and awaiting sentencing for a criminal offence, then I see something wrong with that administration period. If Mac goes then they all should.
Our 'leaders' have failed us, period. I applaud our past leaders for building an enviable economy, however our elders have thrown principle to the wind in the pursuit of wealth. Now our generation will have to clean up a mess for which we were poorly prepared. I absolutely agree that the lot, not the man alone, should be thrown out. We need leaders who are not out to save their own thin skins, but are willing to make the necessary sacrifices to repair our government, our economy, our environment, and our community. Cayman will never live to see brighter days if all these areas are not addressed- not just little bits and pieces.
In Cayman DUI is not a criminal offence
Think again Dumbo – if it is not a criminal offence why are so many people arrested, charged and tried for DUI.
What a disgraceful bunch. None of them are fit to be in office and should never be allowed to enter into politics again. This should also serve as a lesson and a warning to the rest of the "electorate" – you are there to serve the country and the people.
My whole family voted UDP accross the board last election.
As of last week not one of us would consider casting a single vote for UDP again in life.
Now that they have finally stood up to MAc and tell hiim "no more" I would consider some of them again. I disagree with them and think Juliana and Rolston are the wrong and possibly worst two of their group to put in charge but anything is better than the dictator still in charge.
I have not been a huge fan of the UK in the past but if they and the Governor had some involvement in the process, I applaud you my friends and appologize for anything I have previous said against you.
You are an example of why the system here is in such a mess. You blithely state that “my whole family voted UDP across the board” at he last election. Why? Isn’t there a single family member with the originality to think for him/herself? Or did they all, coincidentally, conclude that the UDP was the best alternative? Hardly seems likely.
Stop voting en bloc and think for yourselves! You are a politician’s dream and democracy’s nightmare.
Democracy at work, isn't this breathtaking?
I posted the below earlier under the 'Mac Remains Defiant' article, but then I realized that nobody of any importance gives a rat's a$$ about how Mac feels about anything…
'Is it true that the Jordanian has morphed into a mouse, and they cant get him out from under Mac's couch?'
And now I am following up: Does anyone know whether they have managed to coax the mouse out as yet?
this place is messed up….
gov finances in dissaray….
cost of living and doing business has gone through the roof….
shambolic, incompetent government in dissaray….
c4c and ppm.??…an opposition with no alternative policies….
independents??…. backward small minded nimbys….
In 2003 we had special license plates to celebrate when Columbus arrived at Cayman. Can we please have another set of special plates to celebrate Bush leaving office?
Hooray!.now let's get back to PPM rule which got us in the mess in the first place.
This has nothing to do with honesty and integrity, this all has to do with making the
other guy look bad before elections, anything to win!!
Ezzard has accomplished what he set out to do,bring down the PPM to get elected, then
tear down Mac.
Cayman we have created a bigger mess!!
Yes, those PPM idiots all they did was build a fantastic school, new admin building, roads, launching ramps for ALL to use, act with integrity, hold their own on teh world wide stage, etc. etc. What has UDP done? ruined our reputation and lost us millions in foolish law suits.
Thats why the UK put the clinch on us,thanks to the PPM for building those superhighways, space looking schools and fancy government building, not saying these projects are not good for Cayman, but bad bad timing and wasting money by overdoing instead of being a bit more simple, the PPM were warned, now the UK have us in a clinch, thanks to the PPM.
The UK put us in a clinch after McKeeva Bush had more than two years to get us out of the mess he claims the PPM put us in. By the way "wasting" money on schools and roads is better than wasting it on lawsuits to keep your own backside out of court and giving millions of it to our own church and throwing it away by the hundreds of thousands on fruitless travel (splurging it on ourselves instead of doing what we are being paid more hundreds of thousands to do) isn't it? Will people like you ever LEARN???
I think it would have been better to put CG has Premier and Mike Adam as deputy. It would have shown Cayman that the UDP was making effective change. Nothing new here.
Has it struck anyone else that the proposed restructuring might simply mean that the Government is going to be headed by Ju Ju with bush prompting her from the wings.
Until the police announce an investigation into paving………?
meanwhile, the youths are shooting each other dead in the streets.
JuJu and Roli……we might as well jump of a cliff!! She thinks the earth is only 5000 years old and he lies in front of a court. Elections can't come soon enough.
If it is true that he is going then it will be the best news in a long time. I am going to put my Cayman flag back on my car and honk my car horn in appreciation every time I drive past the Government building.
The rats are turning on each other in desperation. Bye bye rats.
Do they really not understand that having Rolston as deputy is just as bad as keeping Mac. He pleaded guilty to drunk driving. He is the Minister of Education. Why is he still in that position?
No, it is not just as bad. DUI is not a criminal offence and you cannot be disqualified for running for office on account of it.
Yes it is a criminal offence. The fact that they are prosecuted in special courts for adminstrative convenience doesn't change that.
If you can go to prison for it or be fined for it, it's a criminal offence…..
How many lives have been lost in Cayman due to drunk driving. Its morally wrong and its a bad bad example to our youth. He should be an example – a good one -not a bad one.
…and it does not directly relate to his performance of the functions of his office. But wait….
Why should Rolston worry?
A past LGB was also caught "drunk driving". He kept his high position in government and now there is a statue of him erected in central George Town.
WOW, does that meaneverybody in Cayman will be getting free paved driveways for Christmas?
As much as you want, Mac ol buddy, but definitely not as long as you want.
I vote for Cline Glidden for Premier, Mike Adam for Deputy Premier, Rollie for Speaker, and Foolio for floor cleaner…
Yes Foolio should finally know what he's doing, since Alden already cleaned the floor with him.
As I see it the best choice we have now out of the pickings is the Cap't as Premier and Joke Joke as Deputy. Thats the only way to guarantee no more damage until we can hold elections. The leader already passed on his operating manual to the rest of them.
Please Mr Governor, save us and call early elections.
foolio is not ready for floor cleaning!…… but he can do $300m port negotiations….zzzz
welcome to wonderland
Brilliant. Just what the Governor and the FCO wanted. Job done. Trebles all round.
So the future is clear. Any time a Cayman political leader stands up against the Brits, they will have him arrested on a ludicrous charge and the precedent has now been set that he should be ousted even if the case never sees the inside of a courtroom .
The Brits must be cracking open the champagne and toasting the gullibility of Cayman's ruling party.
Now the question we face is this: – With such governmental instability does the financial sector really want to be associated with chaos, mismanagement and a police force reminiscent of 19th Century Dodge City?
This has nothing whatsoever to do with "standing up against the Brits". If you really believe that, and you are not just a Bush propagandist, then you have drunk too much of the Kool Aid and you are the gullible one. And there is nothing "ludicrous" about the matters for which Bush was arrested.
In any other democratic country an elected official in Bush's position would have long since resigned.
You Sir are obviously one of the crooks that got us into this mess in the first place. You may have a few simple minded and gullible supporters that still think Mac cares about them, but I believe the majority of the voting public are well aware of Mac's true nature XXXX. Anyone still supporting Mac is either ignorant or crooked.
R@$$ it took 5 days for their collective brains to finally kick in!
Sink or swim time
This is a joke, it is like jumping from the frying pan into the fire. Might as well have left McKeeva in the post. Is’t JuJu under investigation for the Cayman Brac road scandal. As for Rolston his creditability is as good as his not guilty /guilty plea. This is so pathetic, bunch of losers.
Genius. Promote someone arrested for DUI to Deputy Premier. Because when you're trying to restore integrity to politics, THAT'S the way to do it. Unbelievable.
Wow… our first Party with a Premier, and still everybody is defending a Party-system, saying that its good for Cayman! But see what it has the first Premier produced??? The Bible says, "you know them by their fruits." We need to get back to the good ole days when it wasn't party, but people first!
"rundown", you are obviously a proud C4C supporter. How can you say these things with a straight face knowing it was the C4C principals that put Mac into power in the first place? C4C is obviously sticking the the UDP philosophy of telling a big lie over and over until people start to believe it.
We have always considered the UDP to be Bush, and Bush to be the UDP. For so long they have been one. Integral and inseparable. A wall of silence behind the man without its own voice. It seemed the only way to get Bush out of office was to not vote for the UDP.
Now, in one stroke, we have potentially a new political landscape.
The UDP are showing us that they are not Bush, and that they have their own voice. Bush has been a tyrant within his own party for a long time, and made it virtually impossible to stand up to him. The wreckage of many careers in the Civil Service and the various government Authorities, not to mention the number of law suits out there, of those who stood up to him bear witness to the huge price people have paid in the past. Standing up to Bush had consequences which not many were willing to face in these difficult economic times. It was a huge risk to stand up to him when you have a family to feed and a career to protect.
Now, the UDP have a huge opportunity. The must work hard not only to remove Bush as soon as possible, but put as much distance as they can between him and the remaining UDP members. They have to come clean and open up. They have to become far more transparant and show Cayman that they are diffrent to Mr. Bush.
Maybe, just maybe, the electorate will consider them again for office. Its a long shot for them, but the opportunity is there.
Please don't tell me the helium boy wants to get rid of his daddy too.
Really…the eyes of the world are on Newton, Conneticut. Cayman is just a little rock in the big sea. Save the drama CNS!
Save the Drama? You realize Cayman was being talked about in a lot of international headlines right?
Yes, along with hundreds of other places. The writer was correct in pointing out the comical absurdity of the “eyes of the world” stuff. (I believe the CNS writer was being a bit tongue-in-cheek, myself!) If you really believe the outside world’s attention is presently riveted on the Cayman Islands you are sadly in need of a reality check. Most people don’t even know the Cayman Islands exists, never mind possessing even the slightest interest in the juvenile behaviour of a bunch of self-serving politicians.
Name a few. The story was a 10-minute wonder in the UK and that's about all it deserved.
Hey Mac, can you spell 'poor attempt at deflection'?
Next time my dear “ameri-centric” friend try to include those who lost their lives in other parts of the world as well, including those from tragedies in Pakistan and Afghanisatn just this morning (a total of 27 reported dead). It helps us to know that there is more to your TV menu than Fox News and that you are qualified to berate CNS. Yes, the Sandy Hook tragedy does wrench at our hearts, as it should, but please spare the drama and give the Cayman-American comparisons a break. Whew!!!
Christmas is a week early this year!
Well well, looks like even our forever honerable premier is not above reaping what he sows.
One can only hope…
By all means get rid of corrupt and incompetent but to replace it with corrupt and incompetent will not solve any of your plroblems. But if it is just part of your process then do it and keep processing.
just bring the elections forward…. right now its like re-arnging deck chairs on the the titanic…….
Looks like they finally understand it's remove him or go down with him.
Time to step down bobo! You have lost your crew on the ship & the boat is sinking with you being the only one on board lol!
Braca
So the head domino falls, with a bigger fall to come, replaced by someone else who needs to be investigated and her position filled by Mr DUI himself
The UDP are a gift that keeps on giving this Christmas, joke after joke after joke
Party at PPM Headquarters tonight! All invited!
BYOB!
Does that mean Rollie is invited too?
Of course he is invited…Alden promises to get him home safely on the PPM Express bus..
Kurt is doing the Fish and fritters so he will have little something on his stomach before going home.
If Kurt is doing Fish and Fritters, then who is doing the Turtle meat.? You can't have one of these type of parties without some good turtle meat.. i got some breadfruit if they need it and my wife say she going bring some rice and beans.
Now, Now, they very simply cannot have turtle meat and breadfruit n rice n beans and not invite dear Mac. That would be worse than getting arrested twice in the same week.
Keep this up and we will have them all together forming another party tonight…
Remember what turtle meat got us the first time around…
Can I have some kung pao chicken and some wonton wid my turtle meat please.
Most certainly sir. We'll even serve it to you on a Dart silver platter. They look just like solid silver but Ezzie knows they're just foam inside.
Not sure why there's a party there? UDP is still the majority government and will hold strong! And come election, will be voted right back in and KeKe as Premier because there will be no charges brought forward!!!! 🙂 Heck, they should just call early elections now and let's vote him right back in!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Woooo Hooooo!!!! Now that would be a PARTY!!
This is either pure troll or a complete and utter moron with a new fridge
Are you saying PPM are giving out fridges too?…Count me in. i'll be there. Fish, fritters and a new fridge..man Alden, you got my vote!
Except it ain't never going to happen, stooge. Woooo Hooooo!!!!
CG to take on portfolio ??
UDP are a total disgrace!
This is such a poor, late and incomplete response and demonstrates everything I detest about party politics!
Never again, people – you have to vote smarter than this! Stop selling your votes for nonsense and vote professional, qualified people dammit!
So Pissed!!
I hope they stick to this decision; Mr. Bush should have been banned from running for any government seat since the 1st Cayman Bank debacle. What good he built with his vision, he stands to destroy with his shady dealings so he should either step down willingly or be forced to do so. And come next year elections, let us all agree to pay attention to what all independent candidates have to say in order to choose the best representative for our islands.
Oh what a disaster!
No we didnt need Bush there, but JuJu! What is your travel bill going to be!
Why couldnt it have been………. ah now I see, there isnt a worthwhile alternative!
JuJu as Premier! What?????????
There's that little matter of "Pave the Brac" yet to be fully explained and settled. And then there is all that unnecessary travel while living "high off the hog" on the backs of the little people.
Good choice? I think not!
Good step in the right direction now all politicians and civil servants take stock during the New Year's this week. It is time to STOP the corruption. If you made it this far using the system onsider yourself lucky but please change today.
I'm so tired of seeing higher ranking civil servants (customs, govt authority boards, people in power) driving cars waaaay beyond their salaries, building homes for kings, and nesting away $$$ because they had the vehicle to skim off the system or hep the crooks. Your banks accounts WILL be opened and public knowledge very SOON so fess up and clean up your act today.
STOP CORRUPTION NOW. STOP THE GREED NOW. It is NOT okay to profit beyond your post and to garnish favours from business friends, it is just wrong. Make a living without cronyism.
Go back to your church and ask how you can help others instead of helping yourselves. For those (joe public) that feed this greed by accepting the handouts, step bak and realize that you are only feeding corruption and try to made do without this crushing system.
Simply swapping the black dog for the monkey wont change anything here. There are others with criminal charges who should step aside also if any degree of confidence is to be accepted here. Whatever they do Mackeeva will still be pulling the strings.
Sad, sad, sad – but quite probably true!
Wow, did the UDP finally grow a set?
No, dont forget the level of creepiness that is the UDP, they have been forced to do this they would not have done so otherwise
I knew there were some stool pigeons in the UDP but I was not sure as yet. Now they are showing colors only seeking power that is all.
Replacing Mac with JuJu = going from bad to worst
JuJu? That’s the best they could come up with?
Lawd help us….
