Mac claims to forgive

| 07/01/2013

mckeevagt (221x275).jpg(CNS): In a contradictory message delivered for the New Year, the former Cayman Islands premier claimed that he forgives the former Cabinet colleagues who brought down his government but accuses them of stabbing him in the back. In the only New Year’s message delivered from any politician to the media this year, McKeeva Bush says that he was hurt by his former colleagues and those he had helped the most. And although the governor has gone against his wishes and appointed the minority government, ousting him from office, he still asks the country to give them a chance. Distancing himself from the moves by the UDP membership to oust them from the party, Bush said the party had rules which appled to all members and was out of his control.

However, it is still not clear exactly what the position of the minority cabinet is. Although Rolston Anglin, Cline Glidden, Mark Scotland and Dwayne Seymour have all been formally ejected from the UDP, the position of the new premier is unclear.  Juliana O’Connor-Connolly has not yet resigned and it is understood that her Sister Islands committee has made no move to oust her. As yet there has been no comment from the premier about her position in the UDP and whether there will now be a fight for the party or whether there will be reconciliation.

In his message Bush, who is now still considered the UDP leader, talked about the need to be conciliatory on the one hand, even as he accused his former colleagues of betrayal on the other. He also issued a warning to the governor that the UK should be looking to unite the country and not to divide it.

“The law should be followed by all, but you should not be a partisan referee, who is always ready to pounce when the ball is on one side, and turning a blind eye against the infringements of the other team or in your own infringements wherever they are found,” Bush told Duncan Taylor.

Talking about the need for a government that can address the country’s economic woes, and not to engage in endless political bickering, Bush insisted that he had left Cayman in good shape and said his record of accomplishments would speak for themselves. The former premier, ironically, called for a different kind of Cayman, “where everyone wins, and not a winner take all”, and a change in “the way we do business”, as he urged people to “embrace one another and encourage democratic space".

He stated that, as a country, the people must learn to forgive and forget and minimize the divisions.

“The country must have a shift from vengeance and vindictive politics by all, including the media and the Chamber of Commerce,” Bush stated in the message. “We must go beyond parochial politics; we have to look beyond our petty differences. I will say that I bear no grudge to the minority government or anyone else.”

Bush said that he may not have “expected to be stabbed from behind by the friends I have lived to trust, trained and nurtured,” as he accused those that he had “helped the most politically” of hurting him the most. However, he said he forgave the new Cabinet and wished them the best as they carried out the business of government.

The Puppet Master still has plenty of stooges for all that needs to be done. Collecting money for his defense fund his best looking stooge Ellio will get that done. Calling the radio show after he has been trashed by a caller and re-trashed by the hosts his 80 year old stooge will call and defend him on air no matter what. The morning the police snatched him up at 7am like a common gangster, tons of women stooges were calling the talk show praising our Premier innocent until proven guilty was their rant. The Puppet Master has stooges in every district, under every rock and in every tree. You could say he is king of the stooges. He even has legislative stooges. His public relation stooges call them selves “We got Your Back” are a strange sort. They never said if they have his back in the slammer. If you’re going to be a public relations team please be clearer. I think if they are going to be loyal stooges they should come out and say they will serve his time. Four or five years in Northward couldn’t hurt any loyal stooge. Three meals a place to sleep reading newspapers and sprucing up your tan couldn’t hurt anyone. They could write a book as well. They could call it “I did time for the first and worst Premier”. Or “I stood in for my leader. If he can only get them to share the time between all his stooges I mean he has so many it could be a happy ending for the Puppet Master.

      Dear Mr. Bush

Thanks for forgiving your colleagues.  Now Mr. Bush let me forgive you for 5 things that have hurt Cayman and Caymanians the most:-

      1. The mass status grants of 2003

      2. Touring the world and talking down the economic since 2010

      3. The selling off and swapping of crown lands

      4. The $6 million owing to our treasury by Ritz Carlton

      5. Not stepping aside after it was revealed that you were under investigation

I am praying for you and wish you the best of everything for 2013.  I believethat your intentions were good in 1984 when you were a young politician politician full of zeal to represent your people.  Caymanian are very forgiving you know that we don't hold grudges and want to welcome  you back but you have to do the right thing.  You are a son of the soil and we will never turn our backs on you if you are truly sorry.  Many of our prodigal sons and daughters have returned and we did not cast them out.  We await your return home with open arms and forgivness but you have to do the right things.   Cayman is your country and Caymanians are your people and don't ever forget this because we are always there to give you a hand up when you fall, we will get mad at you for doing wrong but we will never stay mad at you that is not our nature.

I am sure that Mr. Bush just thinks this is a little misunderstanding and that the Governor will call him up and tell him he really is still the Premier.

He has to believe it otherwise he would have removed the sign at his residence that says "Premiers Residence".

Mr Bush you are no longer the premier face facts and remove the sign.

Listen to his words, he has fogiven no-one, but expects forgiveness himself. Maybe he can get it, but the least he can do it apologise and stop the constant excuses and blaming others.

This is the same vindictive "man" who barred certain journalists from viewing the LA from the Public gallery, from attending press conferences, and their only crime was refusing to bleat out his propaganda and print the truth,

He threatened and then blocked government expenditure in certain newspapers that refused to print his lies.

He attempted to block the main hotel on the island from recieving any permits, stopping them bringing in tourists to spend money on island for the good of the people all over a percieved loss of face for him and a buddy.

This man only acted in his own interest, even to the detriment of the Cayman people.

If he truely wants our forgiveness he should truely confess his sins to the people first. He should own up to all the money he has lost. Why did he suddenly jump on a company that never even tendered for the cruise dock?

Every one except Mack figured that miss juju was going to go against him from a long time ago. Remember that barefoot gal likes power.Look at the pictures with that smirk on her face that shows how happy she is to be in that seat. Now she should retier and dont run, as she is going to loose and if she retires now in that position her pension will be more. Maybe she has not figured that out yet. We want a sincere Godly, educated, beautiful, and sincere woman like Virginia Castillo running in Cayman Brac. Who say that Cayman Brac dont have good intelligent Business men and women coming from good back grounds to win in this election. Mack should have know that after helping her he would get a rotten dessert in appreciation. Most of we knew it all along. PPM and the Independents dont have a thing to be happy about, the truth is we are now more afraid.

CNS:  On Dec 19th the Governor revoked Bush's Premiership and Senior Cabinet standing rather than dissolve the LA.  Given this act of consignment under the Cayman Constitution, are we sure he is still to be referred to as "Honorable"?  It seems to me that if his qualifying credentials were enulled in such a way, he would henceforth be just another hustling commoner…no longer politically newsworthy.  Perhaps I'm just overly hopeful.

Problem with Mr. Bush is that he expects unending loyalty from those who he "helped the most", when really, their loyalty should be to the country, not to support him in maintaining his status quo in the midst of never ending scandals and controversies and the black cloud of corruption investigations.  Country first, remember that Mr. Bush.   A true statesman would have willingly stepped aside long ago until the investigations were completed.   There are many oppressive societies and regimes around the world who expect their people to have misplaced loyalty to one individual – that my friend, is known as a dictatorship, not a democracy.  Hats off to the 5 who did finally take a stand, although a little too late, considering the massive amount of damage already done to Cayman's international image.

Isn't this isn't the most hypocritical bunch of bullshit we've ever read?  How can this man still be pointing the finger of blame at other people for the things that only he, and he alone did?

The governor has never sought to divide the country, only Mac did.

The only blatant and frequent infringements were carried out by Mac or at his command.

The only one who failed to address the country's economic woes (and most likely caused those woes in the first place) was Mac, and what he left us in was far from what could be described as "good shape", more like good $uck up!

Who engaged in (and continues to engage in) endless political bickering?  Yes, you guessed it, Mac.

Embrace each other and encourage democratic space?   That's what we've all been trying to do, but you don't like democracy.  At least we stand a chance now that there's a space where you once ruled… or rather dictated, Mr Bush.  Nobody stands to win except you and your cronies in your book, and that is plain for all to see.

We will forgive, but we won't forget what you did to our country and our people, and we'll do our best to repair the divisions that you and your friend Foolio have created, and continue to try to create, including your own petty differences and twisted rhetoric as to your own fictitious version of "the truth".

Yes we need a shift from vengeance and vindictive politics but by our politicians not the media and the Chamber of Commerce who, amongst others, must have their right of expression and freedom of speech – otherwise there is no democracy.  Just because people don't agree all the time doesn't make them your enemies – but only you chose to deal with it this way and you clearly still bear a grudge, and have neither forgiven or forgot, when you still seek to name and shame those who did not agree with you or went against you.

Sir, I respectfully suggest you step down from politics and take down Foolio with you, if you want to do a real service to Cayman.
