Twenty-five refugees sent back to Cuba

| 11/01/2013

CubanBoatersNov12 (300x254)_0.jpg(CNS): Efforts of twenty five Cubans attempting to flee their country have been undermined after Cayman officials sent them all back to their neighbouring island of Cuba this week. Yesterday, Immigration officials repatriated the migrants, who had landed in the Cayman Islands in early November with an escort on Cayman Airways. The group also included the two men who had escaped from the Immigration Detention Centre late last week. Only five migrants that arrived in Cayman at the end of December now remain at the detention centre in George Town while waiting to be processed by the Immigration Department.

Please……one little island like Cayman cannot "save" everyone regardless of any human rights laws.  Everyone wants a work permit, or Cayman Residency, or Cayman Status and the fact is we have a high unemployment rate as it is which I may add should be ZERO unemployment if Immigration/Labor Board/Business Staffing Board were all making a concerted effort to ensure we keep zero unemployment here.  If we open our doors to the Cubans we will soon also have many other Cubans, Haitians, and others who have quickly heard the grass is greener in Cayman and then we will really be squealing about the crime, the high taxes to maintain them AND the unemployment.   Thank you Immig. for taking a very difficult stance but the right one for Cayman which is what you are there to do.  For the Bible thumpers, if you want to do something to help the Cubans get your churches to help form and fund churches in Cuba and have missions trips to Cuba as my church does and help them in their own country.

Then perhaps your own forefathers from Jamaica, Honduras, Cuba, Haiti, Mexico etc, etc… should have stayed where they were and not sought to improve their standard of living or life expectancy. Or could that be the same old Cayman attitude that inspires so many on this island to a culture of self entitlement at everyone elses expense and to hell with the rest of the world and their humanitarian rules.

Simply, you just found your little rock empire in the Caribbean and ensured that you got Caymanian status so that you could then deny others of the same. How many of you who historically originate from South American or other Caribbean nations even acknowledge the British monarch as your head of state, how many of you accept the Union Flag, how many of you have even applied for a British Passport or can sing the National Anthem? I suspect not many and that is your real problem, many Caymanians are a mix of former foreign nationas that have never accepted the fact that this is a British territory with British values, not an extension of the South American subcontinent. Because of this there has been a grab for power, money and influence that has resulted in a very unpleasant attitude towards others, especially those who can and want to work harder to improve their own lives.

You are becoming self serving hypocrites, plain and simple.

It won't be long before a Cuban family takes the Cayman people to court and tests their Human Rights Act, then Cayman will have something to really worry about.

The big deal is: Cuban is Comunist and we Christian . They are running away looking for freedom and we here suppose to give them human treatment .

You all that are making jokes about them. Don't forget WE ALL KNOW WHERE AND HOW WE ARE TODAY TOMORROW WE DON'T KNOW:.

Please post this message in memory of all those inocent human beings who left Cuba in search of freedom and died in the sea after passing Cayman and not  getting any help.

God bless all that helps give the Cubans coming here just asking water and help to continue in their long journey.

Please watch documentary on you tube: NOT WORTH WATER.

My husband is Cuban but also have relatives that have lived in Cayman for many years.  He came here on invitation, we met and dated, even in an overseas relationship until we married.  Cuba is suffering and it's Government refuses to seek help or change.  I understand their desperation in trying to leave there but as one writer said earlier Cayman is a hundred times smaller than Cuba- how can we possibly shelter them all.  I do believe than humane treatment with food and water etc. should be given and allow them on their way.  Perhaps more countries who enjoy freedom should really begin to press the Cuban Govt. for change.  ONLY healthy young Cubans are leaving, the sick and elderly are left behind.  Soon Castro won't have any Cubans to rule if things don't give.

Jesus ministered to the lowly and hopeless and he healed the sick, fed the poor and educated thousands with his message of love and forgivness ALL FOR FREE,  thus Jesus wouldshow them that their country is more in line with his teachings,he would also remind them that all that glitters is not gold.He too would send them back home, thats what Jesus would do my friend.

Just keep talking to your imaginary friends and taking government money to believe that you're morally right. The Caymanian way, shame on you.

Probably not fund its government by stealing taxes from the poor nations of the world.

Instead of what would Bush do?  It would seem that the  "Caymanian Christians" only follow the money.  Jesus would have to pay up to get them to notice him.
