Chuckie launches independent campaign for BT

| 19/04/2013

chrles clifford.jpg(CNS): Former tourism minister and PPM member Charles Clifford, who has decided to make another bid for the LA, will be launching his campaign for a seat in Bodden Town on Saturday night with a line-up of other independents as guest speakers. Although Clifford was rumoured to be in discussions with the Coalition for Cayman to run on their ticket, Clifford told CNS this week that he is running on his own independent platform. Nevertheless, Mervin Smith, one of the C4C candidates running in West Bay, will be a guest speaker at Clifford’s campaign launch, as will his former PPM colleague Arden Mclean.

In addition, Gregg Anderson, who is also running as an independent in Bodden Town, and Bo Miller, who is going it alone in the capital, will also join Clifford on the open lot opposite Savannah Meadows in Bodden Town.

Clifford narrowly lost his seat in the 2009 election when he was still a member of the PPM to the then UDP candidate Dwayne Seymour. Clifford eventually resigned from the political party after a dispute over the opposition’s reaction to the UDP administration’s proposal to sell the new government office accommodation building, among other issues. Clifford stepped away from the political arena for a while in order to complete his law articles before setting up his own legal practice.

He has, however, been active in the Bodden Town campaign to prevent the relocation of the George Town landfill to the district as part of the ForCayman Investment Alliance between government and local developer Dart Realty.

Chuckie was the only man in the country that was willing to lose every thing for the love of his country. I know of two instances when this young man stood in the line of fire for what he believed in with great personal loss and financial set backs. Chuckie lost an excellent job because of his love for country few Caymanians are willing to make the same sacrifices this is why we are in such a mess. Every time I go to the new government administration building and knowi g that it still belongs to the people of Cayman and not Dart I say thank you God for giving us Chuckie.

I like the way Chuckie tried to run ahead of the already assembled crowd for the OMOV and pretend he was a leader.

CLIFFORD I AM GLAD YOU ARE BACK.  NOW I HAVE SOME ONE TO VOTE FOR.  I know that you are a man that will do things right. I can still remember when you exposed the coruption that was going on here.  IF your message was taken seriously we would be in the shameful position that we find ourselves in today.  (1) first premier of the cayman islands ARRESTED FOR THEFT FROM HIS PEOPLE.  (2) SUSPICION OF C.E.O OF AIRPORT AUTHORITY USING OUR MONEY TO PAY FOR EMPLOYEE RESIDENCY  (3) DIRECTOR OF E R A ARRESTED FOR THEFT OF OUR MONEY, AND POSSIBLE FROGERY OF CHEQUES.  For the pass four years  we had a bad leader, who did bad things, and his followers thought they could do the same.   We need to get rid of all U D P and P N A , PUT THEM IN A BOAT WITH SOME  sand crabs and send them to sea.

Please note that it was of normal practice within CIAA to pay for the employee's Permanent Residency Application (for years…). This is the same with many companies in Cayman.    —   No Corrruption there.

    Love ya man!

Clifford was the first speaker at c4c meeting tonight so I guess you should now know where he stand.

      • Anonymous says:

You are perfectly right he stands for honesty, honesty and more honesty, good governance and integrity, all of the above………and country before self!

      • Anonymous says:

Perhaps you should have taken the time to listen to him. His first statement last night was that he is NOT a C4C endorsed candidate but rather an independent candidate for Bodden Town who was there to support other independent candidates.

This morning he was on Rooster with Arden McLean who is not a C4C candidate. At Clifford's launch he had Arden, Bo and Gregg all of whom are not C4C endorsed candidates and Mervin who is a C4C endorsed candidate.

Obviously the Chuckster  is showing us that independents can and will work together regardless of whether they are C4C endorsed or not. Understand now ?

    • Too Late says:

Chuckie is all wrapped up in C4C and has even adopted their "We hate parties" line. Thsi is really disgusting how some people will compromise their principles for a vote. Chuckie had no problem with parties prior to this and all of a sudden he is anti-party!!!

These politicians can be such hypocrites and us naive people just drink it up every time. Cant we finally learn that any politician who compromises their beliefs for a vote will do and say just about anything?

Charles Clifford is no better than MAckeeva if he is now going to align his principles with C4C just so he can get the C4C vote in BT!

Were you sleeping in 2010 when Charles Clifford resigned from the PPM and said that we as a country had made a mistake with adopting party politics in Cayman !!! He was the first man to do it !!! C4C was nowhere around back then Bobo.

But you conveniently forget because that fact doesnt suit your argument.  Pathetic !

BOBO I was going to vote for you in George Town but you just lost my vote..Whatever happened to you being the true independent….Chuckie is not good for Bodden Town or this country his arrogance and contempt for his people will never ever be forgotton. Sorry BoBo …not Today or May 22..

    • Anonymous says:
