New weather website includes images from radar
(CNS): The government’s weather service has launched a new website which now includes information from its weather radar in East End. As well as information from the National Hurricane Centre in Miami, the regular weather forecast and marine information the site shows the current radar image using information from the weather services new piece of equipment which has filled in what was previously a major weather gap for the region. The site has retained its same address at www.weather.gov.ky but viewers will find the site more comprehensive and user friendly.
The radar image on the site Wednesday revealed a relatively calm morning in our area with a small area of showers passing over the Sister Islands. The daily forecast called for possible isolated thundershowers associated with an upper level low pressure system over Florida and a high of 91 degrees. In addition the link to the NHC showed no tropical activity in the Atlantic.

i hear because of the "radar" we cant have windfarms now ?! that true ? who knows about these things ? enlighten us please !!

Maybe CUC should have moved on the farms many years ago and not give the Government the option to choose between the two.
That being said the decision was made by Government that since the two cannot exist efficiently with each other then they would choose the radar over the wind farm.
Please understand that this has been in the works for many years now.

So looking at the base of the images it shows the radar uses selex rainbow software. A quick google shows us what the radar can do and all we get is these poor quality screens. Itn't it common for Governments to keep it's people in the 'dark'? They keep the spoils to themselves and feed us the scraps. Shameful.

As for the quality of the images it is a work in progress.
so we should do as belize does? Instead of being leaders we are followers

Look at the US radars it is the same data.

The National Weather Service has a central collection of WSR-88D radar products in process. While we currently only display six of those products (Base Reflectivity, Composite Reflectivity, Base Velocity, Storm Relative Motion, One-Hour Precipitation, and Storm Total Precipitation) through these local radar pages, you can receive all products through a "multicast" flow or via standard anonymous FTP from the Gateway file servers. Information on the other products and the type of computer equipment you need to receive the products can be found at the Radar Product Central Collection/Distribution Service webpage. I guess that those associated directly with the US provide more but there are examples that are limited.
This is fantastic. Thank you for providing this for public viewing.
It would be great if it were a live feed rather than delayed and there was an option to pause and toggle between the individual frames.
