Lightning strike disrupts LIME’s Brac service

(CNS): Some LIME customers on Cayman Brac are still without full internet and land-line service as a result of a lightning strike to the Stake Bay Exchange early Tuesday morning. According to a LIME spokesperson, by mid morning 50% of customers affected, who were in the Stake Bay area, had their service restored. She said the Brac team had to wait on necessary parts to be delivered from Grand Cayman this afternoon, and were still working on full restoration Tuesday evening.

    My Lime internet in Grand Cayman at three different locations are running at about 1/3 of the speed that I am paying for and continuously loses connection. This has been happening for the past month and a half.

    I wonder if this is caused by the lightning problem in Cayman Brac on Tuesday?

      Probably not.    I live on the Brac, and my "pings" have indicated less speed than I am paying for.   I think of the server as a water hose that has far more pressure than is intended to bear; when usage is at peak, we all suffer.  Still, I'm glad to have a service I can work with.     Those of you in GC who experience less-than-peak-service — welcome to our world.    You should feel lucky to have what you do also.

        Why should we feel lucky when we pay for more? False advertising at best and criminal theft and deceipt at worst….some authority should look into it…there must be someone amongst the 6000 CS, surely? Rebates for all I say!!

          The Brac doesn't pay less than Grand Cayman for LIME.  The rates are the same.
