Escaped inmate caught in GT
(CNS): Although police had believed that Marcus Manderson had left the Cayman Islands following his escape from HMP Northward with his father, Steve Manderson, and Jamaican national Chadwick Dale in August, he was recaptured in George Town Friday afternoon. Police said that at about 4:10pm on Friday 15 November the Serious Crimes Task Force, Uniform Support Group and the K9 Unit conducted an operation in the Eastern Avenue area of George Town, where Manderson was arrested and returned to custody, having been on the run for three months. The jail break happened on 14 August, when the men cut through the perimeter fence.
The three menappeared to have fled to North Side and were believed to be living rough. Dale (22) was the first to be caught in the popular tourist area of Rum Point some six days after the escape and Steve Manderson (45) was rounded up in Frank Sound a week later. However, the younger Manderson (26) evaded capture and police said they believed he had left the jurisdiction. It is not clear if this was the case and he had returned to Cayman or if he had managed to remain in hiding the whole time.
Since the escape, Dale has pleaded guilty to escaping lawful custody and was given an extra year in prison, adding to the six year term he was serving for a violent robbery.
Steve Manderson, who is serving a life sentence for murder, has refused to appear in court to answer the escape charges. It is unclear exactly what the authorities will do regarding any sanction for the inmate as it was his sixth jail break.
The younger Manderson is serving a ten year mandatory sentence for possession of an unlicensed firearm after he was convicted of having a modified flare gun, which a jury found was a lethal weapon.

When the people who assist these escapes begin to be charged and imprisioned for helping escaped inmates in the future they will be less willing to do so. Now it is a game to help escaped felons.

The last time I checked, aiding and abetting was still a crime. Prosecute those who kept this scumbag hidden.
I am not a cop, but anyone can see that this man could not possibly survive or evade capture for three months without assistance. This makes it easier for the police to track him down, because again his associates are known to them. This is not a victory, this is just further evidence of the incompetance of the RCIPs. We are the equivalent of a small town in the USA but we are surrounded by water and have a police to population ratio way above the norm. We are not getting value for money here.
Because really, where else is he going to go?

How about all the gardeners going around with machetes and all the fisherment with big knives and gaffs?
How about nail gums and chainsaws?
A modified flare gun get you in jail for ten years? That is wrong!
We all carry things that can be deadly.
A fishers knife is used to cut fish. The fisherman may sharpen it to help him cut fish. A machete is used for gardening. A gardener may sharpen it to help him cut through hedges and what not. A flare gun is used to signal for help. No modifcations are required. Why would someone modify a flare gun?

If you can't tell the difference between a person who uses a tool for their job and a person who modifies a flare gun so he can shoot someone, you are effing bonkers.
Well why would you need to modify a flaregun? If it shoots flares and is part of a safety package onboard a boat then its legal. Modified to shoot projectiles other than flares then that is now a potentially lethal firearm. Same rules apply

So much for police intel. Imagine, even after escaping jail in Cayman, this scum bag still decided to stay in Cayman.
The police may have wanted him to think that they were focusing on Jamaica. Would be a way for him to be less careful.
