Colleagues to remember missing landfill worker

| 16/01/2014

(CNS): Staff from the Department of Environmental Health and the Ministry of Health, Sports, Youth & Culture will be holding a special remembrance service for their missing colleague, Anna Evans, on Friday 24 January in George Town. It is three years since the civil servant who worked at the landfill disappeared without explanation. Despite an extensive search, including speciality dogs, and a continuing police investigation there has been no trace or sign of Evans since she was last seen by colleagues at the dump around lunch time on 24 January 2011. A reward was posted for any information on the 37-year-old missing mother of five children but no leads have given any indication of what may have happened her.

When last seen Evans, who was described as 5’7” with a dark complexion, slim build, brown eyes and black hair, was wearing her DEH uniform – grey pants, a grey and orange shirt, brown boots and a plain blue baseball cap.

The service will take place at 11:30am at the Victory Tabernacle on Eastern Avenue and to facilitate this special service, the Grand Cayman DEH main office at 580 North Sound Rd, the George Town Landfill, and the Solid Waste dispatch offices will be closed to the public from 11am until 1pm. The Sister Islands’ offices and operations will remain open

The Department of Environmental Health is asking the public for their cooperation and businesses that need to dispose of large amounts of waste are asked to do so early in the morning or after 1pm. However, the 24 hour drop-off area will remain open to facilitate disposal of small residential loads.

The department apologises for any inconvenience this closure may cause.

For further information, contact DEH at 949-6696.

If this was in the good ole USA she would have been found a long time ago.

Very true in USA this might have been solved, but in the good ole USA there are loads of other messed up crab going on, that no one could be happy with except the criminals. Laws that allow many injustice even when there is in your face evidence to prove other wise.

Stand your ground law. Everybodies constitutional right to bear arms law.  Yet look at how many innocent people lose their lives daily due to idiots feeling the world did them wrong so they going to get pay back by shooting up a school or work place.

Thenthey get off  due to being deemed as suffering from some type of "ailment" by experts. Suing your parents, neighbors, their cat  dogs etc.

The USA is well ahead of us in every respect but anyday give me this litlle rock, as antiquated as we are and even with the increasing ills we face.

Remember the suffering of "Black Amercians" in hurricane Katrina? What a disgrace…Celine Dion and others had to get on TV to get action…The Trevon Martin case….. How about the molestors that constantly get the riight to keep thier where abouts non public? That nonsense loaned opportunities for them to molest and terrorize even more people especially children. It might be changed now finally.

You have cases where a parent who does not care for thier child, and the other does and provides all. Proving it with evidence daily, yet the child is still put back in the same situation and exposed to  more abuse and drugs jus cuz its the parents right to see thier child.

Cayman is far from perfect and, has much much to improve on, but the good ole USA has some ass serious issues too and they had donkey years to practice.  All  some of their laws seem to do is to help perpetrators continue their insane rampage.

God bless Anna and her family . I feel that her family and kids should have full closeour of her disapearance .If this was my mother i would not stop till i found her . We have to remember she is humanbeing just like all of us .  To read that there were 53 comments on the Mastic trail , and hardly no one would have time to comment or show the respect to her . This could have been you or one of your loved ones !

You know, I thought the very same thing, but did not know what to say.

My prayers are with her family and friends. I could not imagine having this happen to someone I know and love. They must have great strength to go thru each day. I hope somewhere they find peace.

This, and the other people who went missing on the island in the past few years, is very sad and causes great worry and although people may not comment, I truly believe that people care, and those are in our thoughts.

There were plenty of the comments at the time of her disappearance.  Stop being so dramatic.  People care more about the Mastic Trail because threatens to affect their lives today.

3 people disapeared without a trace in the last, what, 3 years? Slipped in a parallel reality?  I am sure her spirit is always protecting her children. Just focus and watch  for the signs. If there are those  responsible for her disapearance, they will get back what they put out.

Her spirit ???  Look at that pervert that had 3 women locked away for decades in his house and everybody thought they were dead. Let us not jump to conclusions. There is such a thing as kidnap and detaining people against their will. I am one who still believe she is alive, including Ms. K. Baker … and that's the reason why we should be vigilent and pass whatever information we have to the police if we smell something foul even if it is coming from your neighbor's house. There is Anonymous crime stoppers. You can be anonymous and give them your information.
