Chamber to host jobs expo at UCCI
(CNS): Young people looking for work are being urged to go to the Chamber of commerce Expo on Friday where over 30 local employers will be on hand to talk about, jobs and career opportunities with them. The annual event is designed to gather representatives from all industry sectors, associations, government agencies and private sector companies to promote their training & education programmes as well as any job or career vacancies to young people looking for a chance to get into the workplace. The Expo is free to the public enabling them to see which employers may potentially be interested in their skills set and and an opportunity for face-to-face contact with recruiters and a chance for job seekers to polish their skills.
"The Chamber has always been a strong advocate of sound educational, training, scholarship and workplace initiatives to encourage Caymanians to acquire the skills necessary to thrive in our economy," Said the president Johann Moxam. "The event seeks to inform high school, university, school leavers, and those considering a career change about the myriad of career opportunities for Caymanians and legal residents in various industry sectors in the Cayman Islands."
Doors open at 10am Friday.

Attendance should be made mandatory for all unemployed or unemployment pay should be taken away. Valid absence should be limited to proven illness, absence from cayman (except for vacation or attending job interviews. After all, the most important activity for a person collecting unemployment is to seek employment.
This is joke right? Big forum, young people urged, all invited to attend and where does it emotion the location of the forum?. My word!.
A valid absence would be vacation? If you're unemployed, what are you taking a vacation from, and why would this be acceptable, or have I read this wrong?

Actually, it's résumé. And those aren't tildes. And using an apostrophe after an accented vowel is also shorthand. It must be really embarassing when the spelling and grammar police get things wrong.
A tilde is not an accent. It is a mark that looks like '~' and which is placed above the consonant 'n' in certain Spanish words or above vowels in some Portguese words. The accent (or diacritic) that you are thinking of is an acute accent, not a tilde. It would make the e look like this: é.
Further, the proper way to write this word with accents is résumé, as there are two accents, not one. Placing a single apostrophe after a vowel to indicate an accent is fairly common shorthand in typed words, but most of the time people don't even bother if the word is easily understood in the context without the accents.
Maybe people like you should CUT IT OUT because everyone knows what the person/graphic/etc meant and writing a word like resume without the accents in this context is perfectly acceptable. Egregious spelling errors are one thing, but your comment is justridiculous.

Sorry, if they show up with university degrees they will be turned away as the reality is only ex-pats need apply to any white collar job.
Employers can fire expats. They cannot fire Caymanians.
Expats must work or leave.
so that is the reason you do not hire locals? Anyone can be fired. When is the last time a local successfully sued if they were fired for cause? Rubbish reason to not give a young Caymanian a chance.
Is the expo only for young people? I am a middle aged woman seeking employment. Although there is a greater number of young people unemployed, there are a lot more like myself who seem to be overlooked. Thanks.

What about older people looking for work – is there an Expo not just for "Young" people.
Many people have lost jobs at a time when job security was supposed to be a reality – these people are older persons and are in needof jobs too as they no longer can rely on achieving pensionable age as civil servants.
This article geared only for "Young" persons as spelled out in the first line and ongoing, is discriminatory, unjust and inequitable rights distribution is clearly apparent.
When is the Expo for "Older" persons?
What about the small businesses that have no work? example, the constructioin businesses.
Who are looking out for these? they are employees also!
The government knows where the problem lies in regards to the hundreds of self employed, that are shutting down.
It lies with-in them and the Immigration department.
