Scholarship criteria to be critiqued

(CNS Business): The counsellor in the Education Ministry, Winston Connolly, is heading a subcommittee of the Education Council to look at the scholarship criteria and make recommendations to the Council, Education minister Tara Rivers told CNS Business in a video interview. The subcommittee will be looking at the types of colleges and universities that scholarship students currently go to, as well as what the parameters are and what they should be in order to access funding. Rivers said it was very important that Caymanians are able to continue their education to tertiary level but also important to look critically at whether we are getting value for money and whether or not the institutions are delivering the kind and quality of education expected, given the cost.
