Newly convicted lifer tied knot in jailhouse wedding

| 11/08/2014

(CNS): A man who was convicted last week of the murder of Robert Macford Bush in a gang-related shooting tied the knot in prison while on remand for his crime. Brian Borden, who was sentenced to a mandatory life sentence, married his girlfriend in HMP Northward in June. The pictures of Borden's wedding ceremony were posted on Facebook recently and show the couple dressed in full wedding gear just weeks ahead of Borden's trial, despite facing a lifetime behind bars. All inmates are allowed to marry if they choose and Borden and his girlfriend would have been given counseling, given his potential sentence. However, on hearing the verdict last week his new bride was distraught and collapsed outside the courthouse.

Borden, who has been in jail since his arrest almost two years ago, was found guilty of shooting Bush, his gang rival, in a killing which triggered a series of gang related tit-for-tat murders across Grand Cayman in which several young man were gunned down.

Bush was shot as he sat in his car at the junction of Birch Tree Hill Road and Capts Joe and Osbert Rd in West Bay, after crashing the vehicle in his efforts to escape the two armed gunmen.

Robert Bush was also an associate of known gang members, as most West Bay men are. Due to his association and the friends he kept, he was KILLED. Nothing in what CNS wrote implies that Brian's now wife, is a foreign national. Everyone who wrote on this story with all these implications are just as bad as the police who can never get facts right except off the MARL ROAD.

CNS, shame on you for having to dredge through someone’s Facebook page to trawl for a story.

I swear, SMALL ISLAND, SMALL MINDS.

He got life, who give a @#%$ if he got married?!

I agree with 16:28.If everyone know robert then you should know he wasn't a bunch of roses neither. He was a gang member and also made many mothers cry and was never even tried for anything, always manage some how to always get off on murders which he committed or was involved with.So I don't know why everyone is going on like he was so innocent..Yes he have a child but he never thought about that when he was shooting people and  believing he was untoucable….so people smell the coffee and stop making negative comments only on brian…get the true facts before making comments on a story that you don't know about, only by here say

So get off your high-horse and WAKE-UP! What does Brian think he has proven? HUH?

What about his "wife", what does she thinks she is proving?

07:42, If I contribute to the 60k per year it takes to keep his ass in Northward, it is my business.

I assume that his wife is a model citizen and has a decent job so she can afford to take care of the child?

If not, and they are getting handouts from Social Services, then again we are paying and it is our business.

It concerns me that you are on CNS in support of a murderer.

He wanted to make sure his girl and baby were straight before he went to jail, I can understand that! But for the people who allowed it, LMAO!!!!!!!!!

Why is a convicted Murderer being allowed to access facebook and send posts while serving a life sentence in Northward prison? How is he accessing his account/ possibly with contraband like a smartphone?????? Come on HMP if the public can see all of this happening on the social netork what intelligence are you exercising? A shake down needs to happen! Remove all the contraband phones, drugs, alcohol weapons etc. Get these guys under control and show them who is boss!

Do we not realize that once they were married his wife ceased to be a compellable witness? Whatever she knew we can never know now. No wonder crime is taking over.

Rather makes one wonder about who we have in charge of these things, and whether (and If so how desperately) we need a change. Our future seems to have been sold out by a mix of corruption and incompetence.

And why is it the a prison wedding is relivant to make the news? Pls do tell, if they are in a relationship with a child and choose to get married it is their right. She chooses to take him for better or for worst. And at the end of the day regarless of his sins ours are no less in the eyes of God so sit their and be the hypocrite and point fingers cause we all fall short in Gods eyes.

Sometimes we need to know the full story before we write comments. These teo were not strangers, it was not a pridon affair thst just sprung up. They were in a relationship for quite some years prior and have a daughter together.

Cool. The child willget her 40 points towards PR. That is more points than you can get for being a Brain Surgeon with 10 years experience, including all your education and training.

The kid would have been covered anyway but the comment is spot on for her status if she is not Caymanian. Brilliant drafting of the regulations.

6:08 and what are you trying to say???? Does he look remorseful to you??????

  11. Hear hear says:

Her mother must be so proud? Who is she and don't we have "gang laws"? I thought we could prosecute people for gang association.  I'm concerned our gang task force (we used to have one!?) is glossing over these associations.

Young women need a chance and a path to walk away from gangs. They play a big role in the glue of gangs.  This young lady should have been counseled for the past 2 years while Borden awaited trial (as to how to walk away) XXXXX

Ths cycle must break.  Come on community people! You know a girl in a gang? Get her OUTnot married in.

    • I don't understand says:

Mom proud?  He's in a cell for life. Wouldn't it had been better to tell her you can still love the man and not have to marry him?  She is a young lady and his hands are tied behind bars. Suppose she meets a man who is a decent citizen and is able to give her a meaningful life, then what?

"What is it you love about Brian?"

"I love his smile, his sense of humor and the effective way he carries out gang assassinations.  I just know he is going to be a wonderful Dad".

  13. Anonymous says:

Yeah he gets to wed but Robert’s daughter will never have her dad get to walk her down the aisle forher wedding. Rot in hell Brian and Keith! And as for the bride “breaking down outside court”? Who cares? She should have waited. What?? Did they think this would make him look human? Well he still looks like the animal he is. Rot in hell you pig!

I hope she paid import duty on that dress. Customs!

So now it's three wasted lives when you count the murdered young man. Great……

COME ON IMMIGRATION JUMP ALL OVER THIS ONE IT SMELLS

    • Anonymous says:

You are such a NUT; Immigration gave permission; the woman is the mother of his 3 year old daughter; they lived together.  Maybe Immigration need to check out your marriage as well.

      • Anonymous says:

If that is so, then CNS should have mentioned that they have "a daughter" together because the article makes it look like she is just married him for papers. If she has a daughter that is enough reasons to marry Brian so her daughter will have the opportunity to see her father and not be forced to leave the island everytime her mother's work permit expires. It makes sense to me.

        • Anonymous says:

You may have just described a Marriage of Convenience, which happens to be a crime.

    • Poppycock & Rubbish! says:

If this young lady is not Caymanian and she married a convict in order for her and her child to remain in this country, then she MUST be deported for fraud.  Don't we have laws?

I'm sorry, but the Immigration LAW must be upheld instead of the Govt now paying CI$55,000 to house a convicted killer and then PAY for the baby mamma and child with social services.$$$

I am struggling to support my family with my overseas university degree and exemplary work history.  Pennies are too stretched!!  My hard working husband also has North American impeccable experience (local Caymanian in advanced IT field and can't get a local job!?)  We are too proud for social services for ourselves and NOT happy to PAY for this kind of social services for criminals, period.  Why should we do the right thing and work hard so prison gang-bangers & baby mammas can suck off govt money?

Where is enforcement?  Where is the gang task-force squad? Where is Immigration? and where the hell was social services for the past 2 years with Brian B awaiting trial and his gang-bang baby mamma was wandering around with a child?

Time to sweep these gangs and put some damn pressure on them to get out of our community.

Of course…… and if he is not allowd to, he will take it before the court on our expense (legal aid) and accuse us of tampering with his HUMAN RIGHTS !!! What a world we live in today.

So sweet. I hope they will be very happy….er …together. If not, she can always have her pick of insane criminals in the US. A very attractive young woman is marrying the 80 year old Charles Manson. It won't last so here's a chance for our STUPID young women to throw themselves at gangstas. Have their "brains", "common sense" migrated south between their legs?
