Customs watching out for hashish smugglers
(CNS): The customs enforcement boss has raised his concerns over a possible new trend in the smuggling of hashish into Cayman. Last week customs officers at Owen Roberts International Airport on Grand Cayman seized an undisclosed quantity of the cannabis resin from a local man travelling home from Jamaica, the second discovery in the last three months. The male passenger was arrested for possession and importation of the resin on Tuesday 5 August as he arrived in Cayman and has since been bailed while enquiries continue. The man, who is a Caymanian national, was returning home after a short vacation, officials stated, and the drug was found by officers during a search.
Deputy Collector of Customs (Enforcement) Marlon Bodden said, “Following the first arrest for hashish in May this second arrest suggests that we could be seeing an increase or new trend through the Owen Roberts International Airport. We have a zero tolerance approach to any illegal drugs; we will maintain our concentrated vigilance and wish to remind the public that offences of this nature can result in imprisonment.”
Anyone with information relating to this type of crime should contact HM Customs tip-line on 1-800- 534-8477 or Crime Stoppers on 800-8477 (TIPS) in total confidence, or email the department at Tell.us@customs.gov.ky.

I watchin' out too. Damned if I can find me one anywhere…
Ohhhhh nooooo! Very upset
Were his electronics registered?
Didnt he register his hashish before leaving?
what is so new about this ? it comes with weed all the time on boats , it's really no big market here for it because its poor quality it's the by product of low grade compressed weed.
Could the authorities please confirm what a Caymanian National is since that concept does not exist in Law? Is he a Caymanian? Is he a British Overseas Territories Citizen of the Cayman Islands? Is he both? Is he also something else?
he could be a bank
One isn't a Cayman National until one has been granted CI Status. PR, BOTC, and/or a resident CI passport does not confer CI nationality.
Caymanian is not a nationality. There is no such thing.
Thumb it down all you want. What the poster says happens to be a fact.
Sooo what should we call ourselves? Since "Caymanian" does not exist.
Pleeeeaaase, ENLIGHTEN me!
CAYMANIAN!
Caymanian exists. It is however not a Nationality but an Immigration Status. A Caymanian may be a BOTC, a Jamaican, British or an American etc. A Caymanian may even have several nationalities, but Caymaian will not be one of them. We are not a Nation but a British Overseas Territory – hence the issue.
Sorry. Wrong. Caymanian is a status, not a Nationality. BOTC Citizenship is a Citizenship, not a Nationality. If you have both, it is probably legitimate to refer to it in the circumstances as Nationality – but I am pretty sure the authorties have no clue what they are talking about when they call someone a Caymanian National.
There is no "nationality" which is Caymanian.
A Martian?
Whether he is a Cayman National or not, whatever that is, is he a Jamaican national?
