| 21/08/2014

(CNS) Updated Thursday: All primary schools will be open for all students on Tuesday 26 August.Orientation at all government primary schools, which takes place the day before on Monday 25 August is for new students only and they must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. (See updated attachment below). In the wake of significant concerns about behaviour in government schools among students, the ministry will be under the spotlight more than ever before this school year. Parents will also be watching closely to see what new policies will be implemented and how far the new minister will go with proposals to privatize the system.

Why the variation in time allotted for orientation?  – e.g. Joan A Cumber has 4 hours, George Town has 2 and Savannah has one and a half hours  Maybe based on the number of new students?

How do students make a genuine complaint about teachers improper behaviour?

As a dedicated and fair parent I would like to know my children can make genuine complaints without being victimized.

But with Caymanians in charge who appear to be indifferent in publicly sharing information and the majority of their teachers are foreigners and many from same country, so how do we ensure that students have a safe objective place to file a complaint and confidence that the Ministry will have the courage to terminate the contracts immediately, not simply transferring to another school.

And what about your bully of a child? The one who is disruptive, abides by no rules at school and has parents calling politicians as to why the child is crying because the child was reprimanded to do some work?
