| 27/10/2014

(CNS): Representatives from the National Workforce Development Agency (NWDA) and the department of labour and pensions will be visiting Cayman Brac this Wednesday and Thursday (29 & 30 October) to help both employers and employees, as well as assisting job seekers and employers lookingfor staff. The team will help those looking for work complete the intake process and help bosses post job vacancies. The DLP representative will be available on Thursday to deal with or follow up on any employee or employer issues or disputes, as well as receive walk-in clients.

The DLP agents will also and conduct on-site visits to workplaces as necessary. The DLP intends to conduct two short workshops in Cayman Brac and Little Cayman in late November, and registration for these will commence during the visit. Appointments can be made by calling 948-0626 but walk-ins are welcome, officials said.

  1. Hear hear- says:

NWDA: Until you get Linda Evans (Head of Immigration) and Charlie K. (Head of the Board but with a clear conflict of interest) to actually SEE the qualified Caymanian applications, this is all just bulls*t lip service.

This can be fixed by ONE email address:

If you are Caymanian and feel that you are qualified for an advertised job, please send your applicaiton to:  xxxxxx@gov.ky – done!  stpale the damn emails to the work permit application and 1 person (only 1 person needed to be accountable and named contact) gives the local applications to the Boards……done & dusted and WP denied.  So SIMPLE.

Stop playing games.  You are a waste of time until you match all local applications with all jobs posted (and stop that crap that employers need to come forward and this is an immigration board issue- just do the friggin paperwork and match the weekly job adverts with local applications!)

My 10 year old could do this and you can shut down the whole NWDA and send the new American Director home.  This is not rocket science, just dumb polticians and wanna be Chief Officers spinning their wheels to the Ministers and Councilors kissing A$$.

A real waste of people's time, stay right here in GCM and let people see some results first before going further to create a bigger mess. NWDA= Not Worth Doing Anything

There is just a big mess in the Brac as in G Cayman. My only hope that the committee will have the co'hunes to fully impliment the law. Not only for salary but rates for the construction industry also.

The business practice of these larger contractors are dispicable, paying steel fixers 19 cent per lb for steel where in the 1980s they were paying 30 and 40 cents.

And we  wonder why  there are so many robberies in this country? These companies,  along with the poverty- stricken cowboys who washed up on our shores, are to blame for the poverty infesting our land.

Gee, thanks for the two days heads up.   I'm not adressing this toward CNS who reported it.   I'm adressing this towards the DLP and NWDA.    Listen, t'ings move slower on the Sister Islands.   Why not give them a couple of weeks to rally their forces and be prepared to actually utilise your resources?

Nah, they not slower mon…, dey stopped. The last tings dat moved was burglars and iguanas.
