Police open murder enquiry
(CNS): The West Bay man shot outside a local bar Saturday morning has died and police have opened their first murder enquiry of the year just three days in. Victor Oliver Yates (22), who was found by police outside Super C’s on Watercourse Road early this morning, died at the George Town hospital from his injuries. Police have not revealed any details but are asking anyone with information to contact them as soon as possible at the West Bay Police Station on 949-3999. Police examined the crime scene for several hours Saturday and a number of shell casing markers were spotted outside of the restaurant. Uniformed officers also searched the grassy area at the rear of the restaurant adjacent to Boatswain Bay Road.
The police, who were called to the bar at around 3:45 following a report of a man being injured, said Yates was found on the ground with at least one gunshot wound. He was taken to George Town hospital but died there later Saturday morning.
Officers have not said what sort of firearm they suspect was used, how many bullets were fired, how many gunmen were involved or if they believe the crime is gang related. They are however seeking the assistance of the public who can also call the anonymous tip line CRIME STOPPERS on 800- 8477. A police spokesperson said a Family Liaison Officer has been assigned to the bereaved family.

People please speak up! This needs to stop!! Parents, family members of the shooter/s speak up, turn your child in, the life you may save could be his own.
so sad and senseless ! condolences to the family.
WHAT SENSELESS Behavior
I just hope that they get these punks behind bars ASAP. As for RCIPS they are hopeless. They know who these gangs are and doing nothing about them. How much more inep behavior can we take from our law enforcement body.
This young man was a pleasant person and now gone because of tugs. I should have my way with them.
I know it would stop then.
My sympathy goes to his family.
Wha deh hell dee Police can do??????
God bless the family at this time. From what I understand this is another case of cowardly aggression due to jealousy! Bring back the death penalty or make murderers WISH they were dead by exposing them to the most labor with little or no equal treatment as other inmates. They acted sinful and should punish like the demons they are.
WHAT A SHAME.
If the Police do not deal with the Birch Tree Hill gang it is going to be a lot of this going on. The Police I just too scared to go one on one with these tugs. What we need is some serious approach to gangs.
RIP Victor.
Sad to see how third world our society is becoming. Youth are getting murdered, getting pregnant, consuming illicit drugs among other things. Cayman is no longer the islands that time forgot!
My heartfelt condolences go out to the family of this young man. Unfottunately he is the great grandson of Ms Che Che, who was also murdered by a gun in an armed robbery at her variety store in the nearby vicinity on the same street many years ago. RIP VICTOR OLIVER YATES III
Didn't know Super C was a bar. That a really great place to sell liquor. Way to go govt.
Caymankind 2015
Why does anyone go near West Bay?
How many more people need to be shot and stabbed at this bar before a patrol officer is assigned to camp out there on weekend nights and catch these fools?
My wish for the New Year is that the people start helping police put these violent criminals behind bars where they belong.
People know what happened here.
Just another day in this paradise run by deadwood, 2015 starts the way it is going to finish to the sound of gun shots and still we have those who believe those running this lickle place are doing a fabulous job?
So what else is new??? Happy New Year Cayman..same s..t different day…lol
