Missing tourist found safe
(CNS): A 17-year-old teenage girl who is visiting Cayman on vacation with her family was found safe and well Wednesday afternoon thanks to the vigilance of a member of the public. American tourist, Abigail Corless, was reported missing by her parents after she left the condos where they were staying following a family disagreement on New Year’s Day. She was found shortly after 3:30pm today by a member of the public, who had seen the press appeals and the picture of Abigail. Recognising the teenager at a gas station in Walkers Road, he immediately called the police. The officers who arrived found that Abigail was safe and well.
A police spokesperson said that the teenager was taken to George Town police station, where she was to be reunited with her family.
“The RCIPS would like to thank the media and members of the public for their assistance in this matter,” the spokesperson added. However no further details were given on what had transpired since the teen went missing yesterday afternoon, triggering the missing person investigation.

There are times I am amazed at the power of an anthropomorphism created as a means of social control.
The irony being that only this one phenomena is believed by a group who is otherwise anthropocentrist, or humanocentrist.
Oh please, where was little baby jesus in Connecticut????? She is a big girl 17 years of age, walked out of her parent's condo, she knew what she was doing…probably with someone here parents didn't want her to be with…..Baby JEsus didn't find her, a citizen seen her and called the police unless Jesus came back and made the call…..

We were long overdue for some good news.
I want to know why it took so long to make an appeal to the public. I can't imagine that her parents waited that long. I have an 18 year old son and if he goes out and isn't home by a certain time, then I call to check on him. As the mother of a 17 year old girl in a foreign country, I would be beside myself.
I'm so happy that she was found safe and secure.
Luckilu the RCIPS didn't cover this up for six months like they did when their van was stolen.
it needs to be 24 hours before you can file a missing persons.
There is a certain amount of time that must pass before a person is considered "missing".
I understand they have a 24hr rule but should that really apply to children? A young girl in a foreign country? This could have been another Nathalie in Aruba. That must have been the longest 24hrs of that poor family's life.
I'm very glad to know that Abigail is safe and well. Well done member of the public for your vigilence in tracking her down. However, it would appear to be incredible selfish of this young woman to have caused such distress to her parents and to the Cayman community at large. Very badly done Abigail!
One thing I do believe in, that is as soon as a person is reported missing, we do not wait to put their picture on TV and other places. Although Cayman is small and do not have much hideous crimes, I still do not believe in taking chances. Sometimes we will have to bend the Law a bit, concerning waiting 24 hours. I say begin putting out pictures and searching same timesame time.
Thanks thatthe young lady has been found safe and hoping the parents enjoy the new year with her.
