Supermodel’s busy life leaves no room for romance
(CNS): Cayman’s supermodel Selita Ebanks is believed to have split with her TV personality boyfriend as a result of their busy careers. The New York Post gossip column and other entertainment media in the US are reporting that Ebanks, who celebrated her 30th birthday this past weekend, has parted ways with Terrence J. The couple are apparently having “scheduling conflicts”, not least because of Ebanks’ new career directions, including acting and singing. This weekend, the model was trailed by cameras for a new TV show. Ebanks and Terrence Jenkins, the former 106 & Park host, began dating in late 2011, but romance appears to be over as "Selita is just so busy", a source told the Post.
Jenkins recently scored a primetime gig as host of E! News after a long stint on BET's 106 & Park and relocated to the west coast. He's also been pursuing a career in acting and is a spokesman for Crown Royal Life.

She thinks of herself too highly even to talk to her own caymanian people,,,I met up with her at California airport and I stop and said Selita how are you doing? All she did was turn her head around like if though I was below her level to talk to. Don't get me wrong I always had alot of respect for Selita, and I love that she represents our Country as a role model, but what i did not get is that once a little fame go to somebodys head they believe they are on top of the world and no one else exists. Of course you get special treatment as a "true Caymanian" – you just have to look at all the people who have been rolled over or had their jobs pulled out from under them and given to a less qualified Caymanian to realise that there's a benefit. Smarten up.
After years of international exposure as a public figure, I honestly believe Selita is more able to be an elected official than 90% of the other candidates out there.

Boy, what a nasty load of comments. I love to brag that Selita is from Cayman and has done so well. To see her as a Victoria's Secrets Angel is great advertising for Cayman. You wouldn't think twice about reading a story about a movie star or singer from somewhere else talking about their personal life. Don't read the story if you don't want to read it.

Well according to Forbes, Ms. Ebanks ranked the twelfth highest paid supermodel for 2008, earning $2.7 million. If she is paid so high, and Victoria Secret made her wear a gown with real diamonds, she must be more than a island gal… and good looking too! I am proud that she is from my home, Cayman. Too often you hear Trinadad, Jamaica, Puerto Rico, Cuba and other Caribbean nations getting the spot light. Its good to support our own. Beauty may be in the eyes of few beholders, but trust me, with Selita, she is no ordinary one, many eyes are on her! She is SUPERMODEL … do you know what that is?! I rest my case.
Selita you are the least of our worries right now. What you should be focused on is helping those less fortunate in Cayman. There are a lot of young Caymanians that you could come home and visit and meet with on a regular basis. Give them advise but then again you may not be good for that either. Typical young Caribbean hollywood celebrity! Go get your life together and do something positive for your people.

Why on Earth is this in the news?
Because lots of Caymanians are interested in her, you stuffy old git – probably more so than, say, Ezzard Miller. And anyway, who are you to say what is and isn’t news?
I'm not a "stuffy old git" as you suggest, but a 22 year old college student born and raised Caymanian. Just because she is Caymanian doesn't mean that her life should be front page news. I'm not deciding what is and isn't news you simple-minded moron, I'm simply asking why an article surrounding this woman's love-life, or lack thereof, is so important to be news when we most certainly have other more pressing matters that need addressing.
Educate yourself on matters that matter, not ones that don't.

If being 'pompous' is described as being relatively discriminatory in terms of what makes front page news on our island, then so be it, call me what you wish. This story should simply not have been given the spotlight it was awarded; an article about Selita's love life is simply not news. By all means, write an article about her achievements, what she has been doing lately in terms of employment, anything productive she has been contributing to the islands and I will welcome it. Just because she is a Caymanian who has generated a fair amount of fame for herself and is successful does not mean that every detail of her life should be considered news. I don't want to read about her love life much in the same way I'm not interested in McKeeva Bush's or Alden McLaughlin or Dart's love life either. No matter how you cut it, this is tabloid material – not news.

Nothing about that comment was mean. Bolt was in the news because he is an Olympic medalist with multiple medals and is the fastest man in the world. Hardly comparable to a supermodel. The fact that the article is on Selita is not the source of contention – it is the fact that the article is on Selita's love life. If the article was about her achievements, successes and future plans then there wouldn't have been complaints. This is a story that belongs in a tabloid, not a reputable news service.
