CAL celebrates 46 years with discount airfares

| 06/08/2014

(CNS): Cayman Airways Limited (CAL) is offering heavy discounts on airfares as the company celebrates 46 years of service as the National Flag Carrier. Airfares are now on sale for travel from 10 September through 5 November this year but the flights must be booked by this Saturday, 9 August. On domestic and regional routes, sale fares start from just CI$38 each way for travel between Grand Cayman and the Sister Islands. Kingston and Montego Bay airfares are discounted down to just CI$68 each way, and Havana and La Ceiba airfares start from only CI$70 each way. Airfares are also on sale for travel this autumn between Grand Cayman and Miami, Tampa and New York (JFK).

Government and airport taxes and fees are additional for all quoted sale fares, and some conditions apply. Quoted fares are based on roundtrip purchase.

For details and to book any of the domestic, regional, or USA sale fares, customers can call Cayman Airways reservations on 949-2311, book online at caymanairways.com, or contact a local travel agent.

As part of the 46th anniversary celebrations, Cayman Airways will also host its annual Customer Appreciation Day at its ticket offices on all three islands on Thursday 7 August, which is the airline’s official anniversary date. Walk-in customers who purchase any of the sale fares on that day will receive giveaways and be entered to win the grand prize of a roundtrip ticket to any Cayman Airways destination. Second prize is 4,600 Sir Turtle Rewards miles, and third prize is 460 Sir Turtle Rewards miles.

Passengers travelling on 7 August will also be treated to raffles aboard all flights operating that day, with some lucky passengers winning a variety of prizes compliments of Cayman Turtle Farm and various industry partners.

Cayman Airways President and CEO, Fabian Whorms, said the board, management, and staff at the airline are extremely grateful to have such a loyal customer base. “These sale fares and activities are our way of showing our appreciation for customers’ commitment to Cayman Airways,” he said. “As we mark our 46th year in service, we look forward to serving our community for many more years to come.”

I lived on GCM for the best part of 21 years,I always fllew CAL went on chartered  flights as well as schedule flights, and  I can honestly say I never had a bad experience as as customer, friendly nice flight  attendants.,CAL sometimes bent over backwards to help me out.

National carrier for any country is important,if CAL were  no longer around,.you would soon see prices sly rocket .

    See the big picture.

    love

Some very ungrateful people on here. The other day I had to fly to Houston on United and it cost me $900 for an economy class return ticket and one piece of luggage.

    fake. still a rip off.

What about those who already bought the tickets under this Sale?  Would they also be entered in the grand prize draw on 7 August?

ways to ensure you have a lowfare ticket

BOOK IN ADVANCE (lower fares require advance purcased and are subject to availability)

thats how every airline works, if you have no money to fly or you can't afford it then don't go and shop on island and help the local economy…shopping on island too expensive? Paying for a ticket, hotel and car rental abroad costs money too

Hey! I've got another idea! If you don't have the money…… don't shop!

Who worries about discounts? If you're in the "friends & family frequent flier club" fares are always discounted, free even!

I wonder if the recently retired high ranking civil servant who always got herself on the CAL Board is still getting free tickets for herself and her family.

I just feel that CAL need to revised the fares to Jamaica. I know we are the ONLY lucrative market for Cayman Airways but if we are, why arethe fares so expensive. It takes a longer time to get to miami and the fare to miami is much cheaper than the fare to Jamaica which takes less time.

If all Jamaicans should vacate Cayman, it could spell trouble for the airline.

if you by trouble you mean not being able to accomodate all the passengers then yes, but the fares have always been what it is and the seats are always full regardless. If you own a clothing store would you put your hottest selling items on sale or the ones that are selling? It's still a business at the end of the day that has to make money…if boycotting did happen and CAL had to drop that route for another airline to pick up what makes you think the fares would be any lower? taxes to Jamaica alone are nearly 160usd if a ticket is 400usd the airline only makes 100ci each way…try asking a taxi from town to East End and see what they qoute you

    • Anon. says:

They charge what they want to for Jamaica to make up for the losses elsewhere. They know they can't lose as long as they have this route monopoly so they will milk it until competition comes along.

    • Anonymous says:

Yeah, and its a rip off how much the US airlines charge for round trips to Florida, and if we all leave Cayman, absolutely nothing will change, because there is a cartel fixing the prices…and they dont need our business, they need the tourists business…So Jamaica passengers you have one airline choice and therefore have to pay more, and we have four or five to choose from, it depends on our preference as to whom we wish to be ripped off by. Oh the free market!!

boycott cayman airways!….. they have been ripping us off for years….$400 to miami.?….zzzzzzzzzzzzzz

  9. C'Mon Maaaaan says:

It is a scam by CAL the tickets do not include taxes so the prices are still expensive. C'Mon Maaaan

    • Anonymous says:

Showing appreciation by giving very deep discounts and 'C'Mon Maaaan' is still not happy. Fault-finders will never be satisfied.

    • Anonymous says:

it clearly states each way with taxes and fees not included in the fine print, its called marketing. Wecome to the 21st century

      • Anonymous says:

Not very effective marketing though is it if you have no idea what the ticket's actually going to cost you.  I think I'll stick with AA, at least they don't cancel the flights with 20 minutes' notice when they think they can just put everyone on the next plane. Muppets.

        • Anonymous says:

Stick with AA?? AA is a horrible airline – no consideration for passengers, treat you like cattle and terrible landings and charge you for everything including window or aisle seats, luggage, breathing…ok, may be not breathing.

      • Anonymous says:

That fine print hidden fees went out a long time ago Cayman is just old fashon pricing

It is actually illegal now to do that in the states, Someone should complain being Cayman air is in Miami and the reservations go thru Saber in Texas.

I am sure one day Cayman air will get in trouble but for now there are more important things to do than cause diplomatic trouble

    • Anonymous says:

Fool fool, that is CAL's price of the tickets. They are not in the business to sell taxes. They can only discount their fares not the taxes..Taxes are levelled by the Cayman Government and Jamaican government on each passenger to help pay for utilization of the airports and for other items.

      • Anonymous says:

They CAN tell you how much you will actuall pay for a RT ticket. At least I think they should be able to figure that out. Oh and, no more freeloader flights. I'm tired of paying for all the slackers here.
