3rd robbery in 3 days
(CNS): Police are now investigating a third armed robbery in three days after a man was mugged by two masked men one of whom was armed with a handgun in George Town while sitting in his car. The latest robbery was reported to police at 12:41am on Thursday 16 October, and had taken place on Zeedah Crescent, off Walker’s Road. The victim said that while seated inside his parked car he was approached by two masked men, one of which was armed with a handgun. The villains demanded money from the victim before telling him to get out of the car and lie face down on the ground. The robbers then made off on foot with the man’s Samsung phone towards the Windsor Park area.
The culprits are described as around 5ft 11ins tall and both were wearing dark clothing and spoke with Jamaican accents. No shots were fired and no injuries were reported.
This latest armed stick-up comes after a robbery on Tuesday at the Fish Shack by masked men armed with guns and a street mugging on the West Bay Road on Monday by a robber armed with a machete. Police also reported nine separate burglaries during an eight hour period on Tuesday.
Anyone who was in the Walkers Road area, and saw anyone suspicious around 12:30am -12:45 am, or has any other relevant information about the latest or any other robbery should contact George Town CID on 949-4222, the RCIPS tip-line 949-7777 or Crime Stoppers on 800 8477(TIPS).

What was once a good and sought after neighbourhood, now is going, going soon to be gone…..once you let one undesirable in that is it. People need to follow the trend once you see any community begin to change in that the established families begin to move out and new people who would have never been able to move in, is allowed in, the community is gone. Now I know why people opt for gated communities.
We need updated laws that are relevant. Cayman has fallen so far behind that northward prison has become a way of life “an option for many individuals” in these islands. Sometimes I wonder if the PPM and commissioner are truly concerned about what going on out here. I’ve never had any confidence in the government; they never live up to my expectations and never truly deliver.
This country needs help in many areas but Crime is currently at the top of the list and the approach that has been taken for the past two decades is not working “news flash” who do we turn to for a fix. We need police who are empowered and residents who are in some position to protect themselves. If someone enters my house at 2am in the morning one of us is leaving in a body bag I will over kill him/her.
Terms limits for politicians (No more recycling)
A TV show similar to Americas most wanted (This will help to get people talking) cold cases etc
Updated legislation (current laws don’t apply anymore)
No duty on security related items for all (alarms etc.)
Lift the ban on all dogs (requires owners to have a license)
A police unit for seven mile beach only (24 hour protection)
Undercover police cars (many of them) criminals can see you coming from miles away
A budget for rewards and informants (These people need money)
Every patrol/police car should have at least one armed officer (This will save officers who will die in the near future) this is true by the way.
Have a great weekend Cayman!! I’ll spend mine installing bars on my windows.
Except lifting the dog ban. I agree with everything else. The individuals who currently have the restricted animals and that breed such animals are known criminals.
Coconut Joe's was also held up by armed robbers last night!
And the Chamber wants the population to increase… In other words, they want to import more poverty and potential criminals 🙂 BRAVO
Rcip is waste of govt $$ they need to be on a commission base on the crime they solve!!
Well I awaiting to here the RCIPS Christmas wish List More Cars More manpower from the UK More Money$$$ and our leadership and puppet government find the money from our meager resources but anything to please our colonial master eh ??? Instead of dealing with ineptness and plain incompetence right before us.
So you want 'those people' to. straighten up your people?
Time is UP Bains Times Up!!!! What time is it Peoples????PPM TIME!
What o. Earth is this hate campaign against Mr Baines. I am at a loss to understand the venon thrown in his direction. Enlighten me.
I wonder of Alden thinks these guys are interested in a Job…
Arm the cops reinstate the death penalty
Nice to see that christianity does not interfere with your thinking!
Who said that poster was Christian?
And legalize abortion. Get rid of the prisoners at the source.
Savage mentallity. @7:40……"Arm the cops"…..really? Most cannot read and write but we should arm them? What about proper training? I don't know about anyone else but I am for arming the law abiding citizens, not dirty cops with a single digit IQ. STRAIGHT TALK!
Death for daylight robbery?
Let's just lock the door and leave them to it. Hopefully come back in a few years when they have either killed each other, overdosed or been given a job ingovernment or a bank somewhere.
It is only a matter of time before shots are fired and injuries are reported. Within the next 10 years the local tourism product will be dead and the criminals will be killing people for something as inconsequential as a smartphone. People have been afraid to leave their homes after a certain time of night and the authorities in power refuse to allow law abiding citizens to protect themselves and their families from these violent criminals.
As the percentage size of the impoverished population rises – so does the crime rate.
Such a headline was unthinkable just 15 years ago … or even 10.
We must address the growing gaps in our society and clamp down on the systems that create, promote and attract SLAVE LABOUR. For a slave labourer without a day's work becomes a hungry, angry, idle slave in short time.
We don't need to "fight crime" – we need to fight the systems that have created the warped reality quickly engulfing this tiny island nation.
There is no slavelabour. Everyone has a choice. For the caymanians get a different job or second/third job. For the expat complain to the labour board, immigration and/or start applying in other countries. These robberies are for the lazy. Everyone can work if they want to. If times are hard tighten your belt a little. Everyone has gone through it at some point in their life. What makes these ppl any more needy than the next person?
Some of them are not getting the first job but you want them to get a second or third job. Makes perfect sense to me.
Yes get a second and third job. There's lots of part time work at restaurants/hotels (waiter/waitress/bartender), landscaping, babysitting, online work etc. No one said they would be glamorous. There is the problem, a lot of the indigenous don't want to do jobs they believe are beneath them.
And guess what? Johann Moxam from the Chamber of Commerce says we need more people here!
Can you imagine? MORE people?
So basically, the reason there was no crime 15 years ago is because Cayman got away with a lot more money laundering back then?
Can't say for certain.
However, we do know that the USA, UK, France and many other countries enjoyed tremendous growth, hidden trans-national corruption, and good times during those years … right?
15 years ago Caymanians got the blame and did not play the game so they had to get away. Now we see who 99.9% of those who launder money in Cayman are…. the big boys, CEO, VP and attorneys most resident expats, the courts both here and overseas all littered with them.
Sorry to say it but this is the chickens coming home to roost, results of the mass status grants of 2003. Told you that it would come back to bite you in the you know where. This is to all the politicians of the day that were in the house at the giveaways I hope you can sleep at nights with the knowledge of what you did to your country. In the final analysis history will not be kind to any of the politicians of 2003.
Please explain how this is related to the status grants? Have these guys been caught and proven not to be blood Caymanians? The status grants may not have been the right thing to do but, unless you know something that you are not telling, stop placing blame.
This place is going to hell in a hand basket, these thugs will soon get what is coming to them they will soon meet up on their match and the outcome won't be pretty.
PPM at the helm, poor people fed up. nuff robbing going on in the place.
00:10, I think before the PPM, it went:
UDP at the helm, poor peope fed up, nuff robbing going on in the place, whilst our Leader gambles our money in casinos.
same difference, nothing has changed, get rid of Party Politics.
One leader gambles our money the next gambling with other lives?? money no good to you if you ain't around to spend it?
I'm seems that these out of control criminals have forgotten about the incident that happened a few years ago near to Truman Boden Sports Complex.
They need to stop robbing victims who can't defend themselves and try visitng the few of us who will strongly defend our families and propertes with the same fire power that they are carrying.
They should try visiting my residence while I'm at home and I'll show them a thing or two.
I did not know that you could get a permit for a gun that would allow you to use it in a self defense situation. Can you confirm?
Just get your gun license and gun, if they come on your property and you feel threatened, SHOOT THEM.
Put a machete at each window in your house, you hear them coming through the window, and you feel threatened, CHOP THEM.
If someone comes onto your property and you feel threaended, you have every right to defend against that threat.
OK. Look at the requirements for obtaining a gun licence in Cayman. If I am a licensed gun owner and someone is on my property, I have the right to shoot. It has happened already and it WILL happen again. The 21 year old who was trying to break-in to a elderly man's home in GT was shot from the front step to the front lawn! He is dead today, and I have no remorse as he KNEW what he was doing!
If you are willing to steal and attack innocent people, then prepare to die for your cause!
Same here brother!
It's out of control this robberies. I know police can't stop this from happening but they can prevent. They need to have more patrols, like I sugested on their online pool. More police on bycicles and on foot, they can go where their police car can't. just with their presence maybe they would think twice.
WELL SAID 19:53
Shoot these bastards and ask questions later!
This place is going to hell faster than you can say "bye bye".
And what is being done about it?! NOTHING. While I accept that everyone has a role to play, the police AND the executive branch is not living up to the exectations of the law abiding pubic.
I am so sick and tired of reading"no shots fired" or "no injuries reportd". I am thankful for that, but what then when the rcip cant use that prase any longer?
Alden sits in his Ivory tower…
You don't realize this happened last year right before Christmas? They're coming straight from Jamaica for a bright white Christmas! They know the police here is a joke..
No, the KNOW the police.
