Drivers warned to take more care in rain
(CNS): Fire officials were reminding drivers to turn on their lights and drive careful during heavy rain after two cars were involved in a smash on Frank Sound road this morning (Wednesday 23 September.) According to reports on News27, no one was injured in the collision which occurred around 8:30am. Officials warned that heavy downpours decrease visibility and increase the probability of accidents, which is why people need to be even more careful and use their lights when using the road in the rain.

Lights on in the twilight and in the rain. I am amazed at how many drivers fail to put on their headlights as it is getting dark and when it is raining quite heavily. This makes it difficult for other road users and pedestians to see an approaching vehicle. To always use ones indicators to show intention to turn would be very useful. Many drivers seem unable to cope with the new mini roundabouts, like the one near Mirco Center. Some drivers think that ‘Stop’ signs are for the rest of us, all they need to do is slow down a bit…..
All current drivers licences must be immediately revoked and the process of reevaluation of all applicants for a new drivers licence commenced.
Charge a fee too, raise some revenue and clean up thye roads at the same time.

Car owners should check their tires and tire pressures (in your car’s manual, not on the sidewall). If you mix tire brands or drive on worn treads or unmatched sizes, you are a hazard to yourself and others in the rain.
Here is a quick way to assess tread wear:

Heavy rain merely manifests our stupidity behind the wheel. Stop rushing around for heaven’s sake!
