Church wants more cash for fit out of youth centre
(CNS): Although the Frank SoundChurch of God has received around $125,000 from the controversial nation building fund alongside the money it fundraised to build a new centre for youngsters, the local pastor says the church still needs more cash to finish the project. Pastor Ellen Peguero said a further quarter of a million dollars to fit out what is currently a bare building. The church’s leaders are asking people in the Cayman community to become one of 800 people contributing of CI$312 each. Peguero said the church had received money from the government fund “for which we're very thankful as it helped us to get the centre to where it is presently–Hurricane ready."
However, now that the building is finished the pastor said more cash was needed to complete the fit out. “This money will be used to transform the Fusion Youth Centre into a state-of-the-art facility that appeals to the needs and sensibilities of young people and teenagers,” she said.
Colourful lights, an internet café, iPod docking stations, a stage for performances complete with sophisticated stage lighting and sound, music, food, pool tables and Wii stations are just some of the conveniences that are envisioned. The church will also use the Centre to provide after-school programmes for children and youth in the community.
“There is an urgent need for youth group programmes to be more relevant to the needs of today's youth,” explained Pastor Peguero. “Our vision for the Fusion Youth Ministry is that it be an extension of what we hope is being taught to our children in the homes and schools. We want to give our youth the tools that will help them to grow spiritually, socially and emotionally; stand firm and not give in to peer pressure; and understand their worth as the leaders of today and the future.”
Over the next few weeks the church will be reaching out to companies and individuals in the community and soliciting their support for the campaign.
“We know that our target of $250,000 is more than achievable because we believe the donation amount is reasonable,” Peguero added. “We will be offering a structured environment and a safe haven that provides wholesome and challenging activities which cater to the spiritual, social, and emotional needs of our youth. It is these types of programmes that will curb the social and moral decay that we are currently experiencing in our country.”
The church will be hosting an open house at the Fusion Youth Centre on Sunday, 28 October where the public will be able to learn more about the Fusion Youth Ministry, hear about the plans that the church has for the building and make donations.

If you had a child/friend/brother/sister or any other family member who was strung out on drugs, hanging out with the wrong crowd, being apart of gangs or being a total nuisance to the community and was down the path to distruction, how much would you pay to see them on the right path again? My answer is "Everything!". The church is only asking for a mere $250, 000 to complete a youth facility to form a program that will help our youth to overcome the issues and struggles of life. Are we not sick of seeing our youth leave this earth due to an untimely death which could have been avoided if there was an effective program to help them?

In our community there is this idea that Christianity is boring and dull. The new program is geared at showing the youth that they don't have to go to clubs and street dances and take drugs and be apart of gangs to have fun. The Fusion Youth Facility will provide an environment just for the youth. It will be a place that is designed for them to have fun and socialize. Is it really that bad for our youth to have fun a clean Godly environment wich is specifically created for them?
When Pastor Peguero said “Our vision for the Fusion Youth Ministry is that it be an extension of what we hope is being taught to our children in the homes and schools." I am confident that she was referring to the extension of the Christian values and morals that sre being taught at home. She did not state the need the have tools suchs such as colourful lights etc. at home. People please do not take the statements out of context.
The church is only trying the improve the positive social decline in the community. They are doing what God has requested of them. Come be apart of the history and become 1 of 800 to embark on a journey to help to youth to fulfill the destiny God intended for them. I am always happy to see parents who have been successful at raising their own children and keeping them away from the social and moral decay, sharing their expertise and time and doing what is helpful in the community to assist those kids who have had a poor upbringing.

Our country cannot afford to give the Nation Building money to every church, when people are going hungry Islandwide.
The Church of God Chapel Frank Sound food pantry is open to all in need of food,and has been for the past few years. If you know any family in need of food, please have them call us at 947-3691 Monday thur Friday between 9:30 and 4:30pm. As long as we have supplies we will provide.
This pantry is supplied by our menbers, and the many good people of these Islands who donates when we go out to Fosters Food Fair; who allows us to do food drives outside their supermarkets.

Does this mean you want our homes and schools to have colored lights with cafe service, ipod stations, music, pool tables, etc? Doesn't sound very God-like to me. Just sayin'.
