Doctor’s surgery robbed at gunpoint
(CNS): A masked man armed with what appeared to be a handgun held up a doctor’s surgery in George Town on Thursday. Detectives who are investigating the heist, which occurred in Pasadora Place at about 2:45pm today (1 November), said the female receptionist who was working within Dr Borroto’s surgery was confronted by a masked man brandishing the weapon. The suspect threatened the woman and demanded cash before leaving the premises with an undisclosed sum of money and was last seen turning right towards Smith Road. The suspect is described as being about 5’7”, slim build, slim face, with a dark complexion.
He was wearing large white construction type goggles and mask, white shirt, long dark trousers and black fingerless gloves. No shots fired and no one was injured in the incident.
Anyone who was in the area at the relevant time and saw anything which could assist the investigation is asked to call George Town police station on 949-4222 or the confidential Crime Stoppers number 800-8477(TIPS).

With the government virtually broke and it appears it cannot or won't meet basic FFR rules imposed by the UK. Why are we hiring more Police officers from overseas to further drain our economy and budget it simply defies logic or just does not make any sense at all. Just how many countries do we plan to subsidises, our people are beginning to go without and we are bringing more people in when we obviously cannot afford it our infastructure simply cannot sustain this for too much longer. Or is it as some have summise that when this place has been push to breaking point the powers that be will then have the necessary foreign thugs oops! forces to quell any dissent and problems that arise.
To "This country is going, going". Prayers are not going to help the islands. Do you realize with all the prayers God has turned a deaf ear on us? We pray every Sunday at church for the country, the leaders, the police and the people. Yet every week we have a robbery. But I guess God wants us to be brave enough and shout out in our prayers at every church 'WE pray for the mothers of these dam thiefing young men, that Lord you inspire in these mothers, to not spare the rod so that their young people will go out and thieve. We pray that these fatherless kids will look at their situation and tell their mothers that they are going to get good grades in school so that they do not become a thief or a bum. We pray for these mothers to beat the f&#k out of these boys that they do not bring their thieving loot into their house and we pray that the leaders of our country will stop pussy-footing around and provide a sound road map for their young people. Oh we pray and we pray and finally that the police will beat these boys whenever they are caught in action to stop robbing people and their properties". Maybe God will revisit the prayers from these islands and answer a NEW prayer.
John the Baptist you are so right with your list of prayers; and may I add one extra prayer Dear God forgive our leaders of the grave sins that they have committed first when they lifted the moritorium of 18 per year which was placed on Caymanian status and for the status cabinet grants of 2003 which forever changed the face and attitude of our people young and old. I pray for good leadership and governance of these islands. Leaders that will not mess around rather lead us down the same path of law and order and clean the country up. Lord we are seeking a new start like the land of Israel. Create a situation and grant us your solution that will bring about the gathering of real Caymanians like you did the children of Israel and let us build our nation alone once more.
Ah, nothing like petty bitter xenophobia at times like this. What will the term be for the uprising? Turtlenacht?
Or maybe we will stop believing in God and take more personal and collective responsibility?
Fingerless gloves? I think the bad guy has rather missed the point……brilliant.
Oh Boy, here goes a HIKE in the rates for Medical Services.
My sympathies for the victims and WORRIES for our tiny little nation that needs BETTER Governanace.
The caymanian population has spent too many time lashing Jamaicans and its country. And forget to pay attention to their own back yard. You were so worried that jamaicans were doing the crime. now that theexodus of jamaican left when the roll over was implemented you have no other nationalities to blame but your own. because for too long majority f the crimes were done by your people but you point finger else where. No its getting out of control. I wonder who you guys will blame this time around?
Tell us where the money was found after the last bank robbery. Where, where, where?
Caymanian Status give away in 2003 was the straw that broke the CAMEL's back. Understand my vibes. Some left, how many are still coming and HOW MANY stayed? Their are a number of good ones but how many bad sheep are in the flock?
Doctors do not normally get paid in cash
Actually, a lot of places do require that you pay them in full and then you claim back from your insurance.
Need money for the weekend……………………must steal because allergic to work.
Somebodeee pleaseeeee tell Dr Borroto that crimes is down 13% according to the RJBPS The "Royal Jamaican British Police Service" Oh well ! looks like we are going to need more police again?
you find it funny to say Royal jamaican Police. For your information the new once just came. Watch the difference they will make in 2013. All you have to is educate your children and tell them that robbing is not they way to go. Its teh Caymanian who are doing these robbery.
Yes were watching more crime more robberies more canoes full of a drugs more stolen goods going down a yard yes and please tell unnah people stop murdering and raping and exporting drugs and coning people outta dey money? ! Yet we inna church a Sunday
The Jamaican cops were just recently recruited. Before them, who was doing the policing, HHHMMM??? And why were they not getting the crime under control HHHHMMM??? Which is why you are now having to source policemen from other Caribbean countries to help you in your fight? So hush your mouth and stop showing your ignorance. Since you like to go spouting off about Jamaicans (among other nationalities), why don't you Caymanians bring up your kids the right way and teach them the value of hard work over a quick buck? Because the majority of the crimes being committed is by your own people and youths who are involved in gangs and drugs. And don't try to claim that the current spate of crime is being done by Jamaicans, you all done "run" them out long ago and have told employers to hire from other countries instead.
I feel your pain mi child but all one has to do is read the Gleaner or Observer to understand the level of violence and horrific crimes committed in your home country of which you frequently export to other jurisdictions. I see no crime dons running neighborhoods here or running international drug gangs and rings oh the political violence and corruption and murder rates oh well lets no go there. I hope that has nothing to do with bringing kids up because that does not bode well for the nation, as for the quick buck comment you must be referring to that Lotto Scam in the Montego Bay Area where even the Police have join forces with the criminal element to make some money. In closing let me mention a few other nice things Garrison Communities and Deportees. Suggestion for you and previous posters like you engage brain before opening your mouth and think about this what if the shoe was on the other foot would you all allow Caymanian Police officers to come to your island and police you i seriously doubt it and to be really truthful i don't think they would probable even survive the experience. It appears our dear mother has plans for this likkle place which doesn't include a future for us our children. Thats not your fault however. …
Let's go back to the Cayman Policing Model as it apparently worked so well in the past!
Thats your and many like you who arrive here problem right there Bro Policing is not a "Model" is a Strategy. As for your past comment we weren't overstaffed with foreign nationals costing the country millions but certainly more efficient with less equipment and there was certainly more harmony amongst the ranks. The statistics spoke for themselves too (Didn't have to lie or manipulate them for some to look good like a "Model"
If you could produce the 'strategy' and the statistics, I am sure we would all be very interested in comparing them against todays figures.
5’7 slim build, slim face, dark complexion…..
What kind of useless description is that? Lmao
Clothes color at least….? Zzzzz
Read the article idiot
It helps if you read beyond the first paragraph.
Rules me out of the investigation at least, being 6 foot, white and fat.
A doctor's office? These thieves are becoming very desperate and I guess it will be the church next to get the Collection plate. Go find yourself a job.
This country is going, going gone… my heart bleeds for my country and its people. This is where the religious leaders and people in this country need to come together for a day of prayer for our leaders, people and those that live here. This country cannot continue on this path. I pray that we return to the God of our fathers before its too late.
How about we drop this 'putting our faith in religious leaders and God' and do something proactive about the situation(proper education stemming from home), pray all day if you want, lets see how far thats going to help.
If they hit Mac's church they will find at least CI$2,000,000.
"The suspect is described as being about 5’7” in height, slim build, slim face, with a dark complexion."
Always the same description. ALWAYS.
Either the police just cut and paste it into every crime report or this ONE GUY has been committing regular armed hold ups since the 80s!
"The suspect is described as being about 5’7”, slim build, slim face, with a dark complexion.
He was wearing large white construction type goggles and mask, white shirt, long dark trousers and black fingerless gloves."
HOW MUCH MORE DO YOU WANT????
If the victim had've taken a photograph of him then fair enough, but I doubt that. How else do you think the police would get a better description?
CCTV wouldn't pick up anything else because he HAD A MASK ON.
If you saw a man robbing a doctors today, you would REMEMBER seeing a man robbing a doctors today!
Was he 15 or 70 ish. That always helps. Did he speak and in what accent? Hallo!
If he was wearing a mask there is no one one could tell how old this person might have been, secondly it is a known fact that Caymanian youths put on a Jamaican accent when they are on their robbery sprees to throw suspicion away from themselves.
He had a mask on, so he could've been 15 or he could've been 80. How on earth can you possibly expect to determine that. CCTV is CCTV. It's not like watching a movie on television with five different camera angles and dolby surround sound!.
I don't know about you but I can do a good Caymanian, Jamaican, English, Irish, Scottish, American, Canadian, Indian, French and German accent. My Turkish is poor, but I have it in my diary to work on it next week.
If the report did state that the robber appeared to be 30 and had a local accent – would that help you? I would imagine probably not. If you didn't see someone wearing a mask running out of a doctors holding a gun or someone in that area, around that time, taking off a mask and goggles whilst holding a gun, then it's safe to say you probably didn't witness anything that would help the police. If on the other hand you think you know who did it anyway, then call Crimestoppers and pass on your suspicions.
Surely you would prefer the report is accurate and the police and press don't just use guess work. They can only pass on what the witnesses tell them and what they see for themselves.
We have not had regular armed hold ups since the 80s.
Special Needs Donkey please stop it, you making me lmao so early this friday morning that i am about to s*** my pants here in my office.
