Misick links his and Mac’s arrest as UK conspiracy

| 18/01/2013

0_0.jpg(CNS): In another message from his maximum security jail cell in Brazil to the people of the Turks and Caicos Islands, the former premier of TCI has linked his own situation to that of the Cayman Islands’ former premier McKeeva Bush. Michael Misick claimed his unlawful detention in Rio and the arrest of Bush in December were both illustrative of the UK’s determination to control its territories. He said the British were using allegations of corruption as a way of getting rid of leaders who strive for independence or who want to govern autonomously. Misick suggested that Britain would not let go of its remaining colonies without a fight but the former TCI premier said he was not afraid and would rather spend 100 years in jail than compromise his principles.

Misick said it was no coincidence that Bush had been arrested and he had been detained in Brazil, as he believes the UK plans to deal this way with all territory leaders that press for independence or more autonomy

In a hand written, open letter on plain paper sent, it appears, firstly to the TCI Post, dated 14 January, Misick takes aim at the UK and the principle of dependency. “I detest colonization in all its forms,” the former premier wrote from his cell, where he is awaiting an extradition order. Misick is wanted for questioning in TCI in connection with a corruption investigation.

Misick has not been accused of any specific crimes and has not yet been charged in the probe, which has extended to several politicians and business people in the eastern Caribbean territory. However, an international warrant was issued for Misick’s arrest after he disappeared from TCI once the investigation into widespread corruption on the island began. It was executed by the Brazilian authorities in December after his claim for asylumthere was denied. Misick insists that his predicament has nothing to do with a genuine investigation into corruption but is all about political persecution.

In this latest correspondence, Misick promised to dedicate the rest of his life to seeking independence for his country as he called on the people to begin demanding a referendum on the issue.

I would definately go with the option of 100 years in jail… that being Mi"Sick" as the worthy recipient of course.

He may very well be right but….

When both these XXXX local morons WERE NOT elected on any independence mandate from their voters…and their voters DO NOT universally support an independence agenda…

Who are they and what are they doing ?

    Both Misick and Bush are wanna-be Mugabe-style straw-boss dictators-in-the-making…

Whose right ful place is in jail.

If any politician in the Cayman Islands wants to run on an independence agenda, then let them declare that openly and put it forward to the voting population in a national referendum.

All these self-styled 'leaders of the people' trumpet their 'undying loyalty and service' to the 'people' but their personal bank accounts tell the true story of where their only loyalties and service lies.

All you uneducated morons that do not know your West Indian History, neither do you know British History, their racism, their slave master mentality, their hunger to hold on to power over the elected government officials of the OT's.

All you who chose to be ignorant, continue to listen to Duncan, Baines and atheir associates.

The UK is behind both these arrests and its because both these teritories leaders were talking about independence – i.e. getting away from the white slavemasters namely' THE FCO – UNITED KINGDOM.  And we need to get away from them they are doing absolutely 'NOTHING FOR CAYMAN" They gave Greece billions of dollars. but instead they dictate how we can spend money from the public coffers where the brilliance of Caymanians put together the Financial Industry of which we are their envy of their eye.

We need to start growing our defence forces, focusing on manufacturing and exporting, and our natural resources. Its time to stand on our own two feed. We need to accept only developers who are interested in manufacturing and stop this real Estate charade selling the country to the highest bidder. IT MUST CEASE!

13.09 What century did you say you were from? You sound like you got stuck in a time warp. Have you ever been to the completely cosmopolitan city of London?  Did you meet anyone there who had the slightest interest in Cayman except for its infamy as a tax shelter and its beaches?  And you refer to everyone else as, 'uneducated morons'. This sounds like a sort of all-encompassing prejudice caused by a chip on the shoulder as large as a Ginup tree. It's 2013 now. Check it out if you don't believe me, and get up to date!

As one of the uneducated poster that do not want independence for this country, please I am now in the processs of liquidating my assets and will not be around to see the FCO and UK leave… this will be the saddest day in the history of the Cayman Islands. You talk about growing our defense forces must be the mosquitoes; as for focusing on manufacturing and exporting we would do well with manufacturing and exporting BS because that is our only natural resource that can be exported. Stand on our own two feed (I assume feet) we dont even have legs much less feet. We need to accept only developers who are interested in manufacturing??? da where will we get the population from, I guess we can import them and pay them the minimum wage while Caymanians will have to work way below the minimum wage. Can Cayman really compete against Mexico, India, China and the rest of the Caribbean when it come to manufacturing and labour? as for real estate and selling the country to the highest bidder have you noticed all the for sale signs “Most” people are not interested in purchasing real estate in Cayman any longer it’s just a dying market this country is no longer appealing to the rich and famous they are gone and replaced by the greedy and infamous.

Sounds like you have a plan. Please enlighten me. What are those abundant natural resources that prop up the economy of the Cayman Islands? Which manufacturers are going to manufacture what exactly here when they can do it for 1/10th of the cost in China? If you want no more real estate "charade", where exactly will all this manufacturing take place? You realize someone will need to build factories somewhere right?

  5. Whodatis says:

Dear whodatis and all the other anti-colonialist nuts on here:

Let me tell you a history story.  Contrary to your fantasy world, the original settlers of the Cayman Islands were deserters of Cromwell's Army.  As far as I know they were British and white.  Slaves came later and after awhile we were integrated.

So every time that you go on and on about the British, you are talking of yourself unless you are not a Caymanian.

He should ask himself why would Britain want to hang on to our countries?? Why?? For our great natural resources they are shipping back to the UK everyday?? For a foothold in the Caribbean in case they need to attach the USA or Mexico?? Because they love to see the Union Jack next to allegations of corruption and tax avoidance?? Why, why, why???? He Makes no sense other that trying to drum up a sympathetic local support in advance of some very tough questions from the prosecutor. At least the TCI jails are better than the one you are in….XXXXX.

It is this so-called leaders that the Island people get the title "those natives". So the milk has been spilled, this 2 idiots (together we can call them "MaSick") has said it clear that this was there intention after all, to go the independent route. So just because the two of them think they are an island they would drag or force the population down that mad road with them. Did they ever ask the "Natives" what they prefer?. Any day when you have this kind of leadership, give me the old British rule. Guess this 2 idiots past the mark and forgot what it means that "no man is an Island". Mac and Mess, while you have time now to think and ponder, I suggest ask the warden to let you have a copy of the book tittle "Animal Farm" . For those of you that are not familiar, I suggest that you find it and read it. It was written long ago, and while you are in school it is hard to understand what the book has to do with life in general, then in times like this, you wonder how does it work out to be the exact same thing. If you ponder the book, it make you relize right away the human farmer is the British in this role. Later I can give some other spoilers. And I would like to ask MaSick, when did you guys dream up that you can run a nation? Do you fully understand what it means to be independent? Or did you just like the feel of "Power" and the ability  to bend every rule along the way? How on Gods good earth does aperson get this idea at this day and age? And if independence was always the goal , why pretend and make it seem the  "British" is the evil doer here. Thank you British for helping us Natives not be controlled by this 2 mad men. "Those 2 Natives".

It’s such a reckless and shameful thing to do to compare TCI with Cayman. To abandon your country and hide away from authorities is disgusting enough. But to compare himself with the legitimate politicians of Cayman is simply insane. I feel such sorrow for the people if TCI, your future is bleak.

Every person from the UK (mainly Caucasian) need to start opening their eyes and 'listen' to the silent and deadly posin that is spread by the majority of people from former colonies.

Never mind that once they became 'independent' was when the citizens really suffered they still have to migrate to BOT for political stability and financial prosperity and yet still blame the UK for all the damage ther own people have inflicted. They have managed to convince many Caymanians to jump on their bandwagon……….just hope the '5' can repair and how can we really feel confident that they have 'jumped' off that runaway bandwagon?

Why can't we jus get along? love of money & power so fear of not getting more than enough translates into hatred. I'll keep praying that God intervenes.

Mike Misick is the TCI’s Dudas Coke. Most foreign investors are passing on the islands because the corruption will only get worse when the country goes independent to keep Mike out of prison. Look at what happened in the Bahamas after the British left – drug cartels and money laundering exploded.

    • Jonas Dwyer says:

Rufus t what happened in the Bahamas is that the people of the Bahanas started on a self determination journey. This is a basic tenet of human rights, being ready for it or not is the question. It is an unalienable right.

    • Anonymous says:

The UK Government should call his bluff and send him back to TCI for trial.  This seems to be a well orchestrated  plan for independence from the UK, Mike Misick is a student of  the "art of war".  If the UK continues to keep him in prison in Brazil he will only continue with his rallying cry for independence on the grounds of him being a political prisioner due to UK conspiracy to stop the colonies from asking for independence; rather than the allegations that he is to be tried for.  I am not saying that Mike is guilty nor will I say that he is innocent of the allegations that are brought against him.  This cry and chant for independence has reverberated to atleast three of the remaining terrorities in the Caribbean.  This is not a good thing and could lead to much disturbances and trouble just because of a few leaders that  do not want to be accountable to higher authority rather they are willing to listen to the greedy self centered individuals (their handler) who are seeking small islands/countries with small populations and will developed structures whereby they can control.  Mike do not allow yourself to be used by these people, please realise that the UK is not the enemy rather see your real enemies and enemies to the state (TCI) as those people who encourage you sell/trade crown lands and give you anything that would bring your reputation into disrepute.  I don't believe the UK is trying to get you to stay in prison and destroy TCI.  I pray for your safe and speedy return to TCI so that you can be tried before a jury of your peers.  I await the day when you and the UK can present the respective case and the people of TCI and the world will know the  whole truth.

    • Anonymous says:

What principles??????  Neither of the gentlemen would know what a decent principle is, if it crawled up behind them and bit them on their ***###@@.  Misick is where he is today because he did not have any of the Principles Disease and, being friends with our PREMIER (not), our guy does not even know how to spell it.  Independence brings some very large and heavy responsibilities.  We have to have our own armed forces.  Do you morons really think that the Cayman Protector boats can fight our battles.  What a joke!!!!

      • Anonymous says:

Armed forces..or unarmed forces is a good idea for those guys n gals who claim no work and who go around thieving and gunning people.  Boot camp!!

One can only compromise principles when one has principles to begin with.  If the allegations of kickbacks and obtaining benefits because of your position in office are as factual as they appear to be, I'd say he's like a snared pig squealing.  As for his likening Mac to himself, I can only say that my mother always told me that birds of a feather flock together.  And I can say, that if Mac is harbouring thoughts of independence, he'd better swallow them fast, cause we Caymanians ain't falling for that.  So Mr. Misick, if you lookig sympathy here, you've looked in the wrong direction.  We want open, honest and transparent politicians and government.  Got that?
