Two arrested following GT street robbery
(CNS): Two suspects were arrested following the report of a street robbery in George Town shortly after midnight Sunday morning. At about 12:30am a report was received by the emergency call centre that there had been a hold-up in the vicinity of Red Gate Road in the industrial area of George Town involving three men with what appeared to be a firearm and a knife. In a very short statement, an RCIPS spokesperson said officers responded and arrested two people. There were no details of how many people were robbed, whether they were male or female or what, if anything, was taken or if anyone was hurt. Nor did police reveal the ages or gender of the two people arrested in connection with the incident.
Man killed in road smash
(CNS) Update Monday 10:24am: Police say that the young man who was killed in a road accident early Sunday morning was a passenger in the vehicle that crashed into a wall in North Side and not the driver, as they reported yesterday. He was Jordan Anthony Ebanks, aged 23, from the Northward area. According to the RCIPS, the single vehicle road crash occurred shortly before 5:30am on 17 November, when a Honda Accord left the road and collided with a wall near Old Robin Road. Ebanks died at the scene. The police have since established that a 17-year-old male left the scene of the crash. He was arrested late yesterday evening in George Town on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and remains in police custody while the investigation progresses.
Anyone who was in the area and witnessed the crash, or the Honda Accord before the collision took place, is asked to contact Inspector Adrian Barnett on 526-2204.
