Man killed in road smash

| 17/11/2013

(CNS) Update Monday 10:24am: Police say that the young man who was killed in a road accident early Sunday morning was a passenger in the vehicle that crashed into a wall in North Side and not the driver, as they reported yesterday. He was Jordan Anthony Ebanks, aged 23,  from the Northward area. According to the RCIPS, the single vehicle road crash occurred shortly before 5:30am on 17 November, when a Honda Accord left the road and collided with a wall near Old Robin Road. Ebanks died at the scene. The police have since established that a 17-year-old male left the scene of the crash. He was arrested late yesterday evening in George Town on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and remains in police custody while the investigation progresses.

Anyone who was in the area and witnessed the crash, or the Honda Accord before the collision took place, is asked to contact Inspector Adrian Barnett on 526-2204.

I'm Jordan's mother. Thank you for all your beautiful comments and condolences. Jordan was at a "session" after the street dance, a session that is held every weekend behind the bar on the road where Rohelio's car wash is…a session that should be closed down. Isn't 1:00 a.m. long enough for these young people to drink? But this place allows them to continue drinking until 3, 4, and 5 a.m. Jordanwas not even driving, but his life ended because he gave his keys to someone who was not only underage to drive, but underage to drink. How many more young lives will be lost before Cayman realizes that their laws are killing their own young men and women? My life and heart is shattered, will never be the same. I love you, son. Until we meet again you will be with me every second for the rest of my life. Can't wait to see you again.

This is indeed sad and my deepest condolences to the family. As amother I cannot begin to imagine the pain this mother is feeling and can only pray that God will hold her and all the family memebers in the palm of his hands and confort your hearts like only he can.

This is very sad and unfortunately its a trend where every year after the islands celebrate Pirates week, young lives are lost. If we should look back we will see that this indeed is a trend.
