Drunken honeymooner sobers up in GT lock up

| 10/03/2014

(CNS): A drunken man’s honeymoon was interrupted Sunday after he was arrested by the RCIPS for being drunk and disorderly following the unscheduled landing of the flight he was on in Grand Cayman. The man was reportedly involved in a major argument with his new wife on a Delta Airlines flight bound for Costa Rica from Atlanta, which was forced to land at Owen Roberts International Airport on Sunday night. The man was arrested and kept in the lock-up at George Town police station but his wife was understood to have remained on board the flight to Costa Rica.

“He and his wife had an argument which turned rowdy,” an RCIPS spokesperson stated. ”His wife continued on the flight. He was arrested for being drunk and disorderly.”

Following enquiries by CNS Monday, the RCIPS have still not responded to say whether the American man is still in custody, whether any charges have been laid or if he has been released on bail or otherwise.

Glad she kept on going and hope she is looking for a divorce attorney. The airline should have never allowed him to get drunk on the plane or let him board ifhe already showed signs of intoxication!

Crikey, bit of a rough start to the marriage by any measure!

How could this man get that drunk so quickly just leaving Miami? This kind of drunkness could be understandable on a 7 hour haul but an hour? And aren’t they suppose to check people’s sobriety before boarding? This sounds more like someone under the influence of something stronger than a few Inflight glasses of Centenario Rum! Whatever it is, quit it dude. It ain’t worth it. You just diverted a frigging plane for goodness sake. Get it together. And You know his wife is pissed. She didn’t even stay with him. What an extreme embarrassment man.

It reads Delta from Atlanta 3hrs north of us.  With potentially elevated blood alcohol from a wedding night, free booze in the Delta departure lounge, complementary drinks on board, sleep deprevation, and recent family encounters it's easily possible to get there.

Please read.  It says he was on a flight from Atlanta which is closer to 3 hours than a 1 hour flight.

It's not really clear where the flight was coming from/going to. Cayman 27 said it was going to Costa Rica from Miami. Cns says it was going to Atlanta from Cost Rica.  Grain of salt anyone?

Not a good week for men in Cayman.  One has nuts torn off, next one gets left behind by his newlywed.  Both very deserving of their fates.

I can understand drpping him off here to avoid further trouble on the plane, but I hope Cayman Government charges the airline for any and all cost incurred eg. food, water, and police services.

Why the airline you mong!  Better still have him do something useful like fix trash trucks or clean streets for a while so that he can pay his own way.
