Second case of imported chikungunya confirmed

| 12/07/2014

(CNS): The Public Health Department has now sent four blood sample from patients with suspected case of Chikungunya virus for testing and officials say that a second case has now been confirmed in a resident of Cayman Brac who had travelled to a country, which CNS understands was Guyana, where the mosquito borne disease is now endemic. As the virus spreads across the Caribbean, it is not yet present locally but officials are on alert to the possibility as more people travel around the region and become expose to mosquitoes carrying the disease. Officials confirmed that a third suspected case in a patient from George Town was negative and the Public Health Department is waiting for results on the fourth sample from another Brac resident.

And on Cayman Brac, the Salt Water Pond is still breeding flies and mosquitos by the millions and I don't see a thing being done about it!

Meanwhile… Nicuragua is about to split a continent in half to put in a canal but the Brac can't have a tiny marina because it may upset the environment. SMH

Alert alert, we could be breeding these Mosquitos in a broken down no cover cistern near to the schools on walkers road. Woutlessness on the part o the part of whoever own this cistern and the land. Environmental do your duty even though it hard. Don't be afraid we got ya back and when you find out who been so slack, take picture and send to the CIG FBI RCIP , mRCU FCO and the White House. No joke though it is a serious breeding ground.
