Drivers warned over harbour front road works

| 22/09/2010

(CNS): The Cayman Water Authority said that Phase 2 of the South Church Street upgrade project on the George Town harbour front is scheduled to continue on Thursday, 23 September 23 from 9:00AM until 4:00PM. The WA said warned the motoring public of the works which will take place between Ugland House and Melmac Avenue. Access from Ugland House to Melmac Ave will be reduced to one lane. If possible, motorists are asked to use an alternate route. The Water Authority said it apologizes in advance for any inconvenience caused and wishes to thank the public for its understanding as they continue to make service improvements.

Anyone notice their water being slippery lately- can someone shed any light on this – are they poisoning us? Whatever was in the water took ages to come off

They are testing a new mind altering potion which will take the place of the voting reminder cards shortly before the next elections. Nothing to be worried about.

I wouldn’t say that these roadworks have been going on for a long time.  "Going on" would imply that work has been taking place every day, which I doubt.

But it does seem that there’s been a great deal of inaction over the weeks, though nothing really surprises me with the Water Authority.  They have a habit of digging up roads on a regular basis, leaving the roads in an appalling state for an unreasonably long time, before getting around to completing a sub-standard repair job.

The road closures should have come weeks ago.  Get the problem fixed and the road re-surfaced, and move on.  Dragging it out like this can’t have been good for motorist, pedestrian or tourist.

any chance of getting ’em to fix the mess that is Phase 1 before they start on Phase 2? The works are obviously necessary, but the stretch from Goring to Ugland has been torn up for weeks.
