(CNS): The police said this morning that a 46-year-old woman is currently in custody having been arrested on suspicion of attempted burglary following pursuit by an off duty officer. The woman was allegedly attempting to rob a home on Old Crew Road on Sunday afternoon, 16 August, but was disturbed by the occupier. George Town police arrested the woman in the Sunrise Apartments area.
The Royal Cayman Islands Police Service reported that around 12.25pm the 911 Emergency Communications Centre received a call from Inspector Frank Owens, who was off-duty but told operators he was in pursuit of a burglary suspect in the Old CreweRoad area.
Uniformed officers from George Town police station responded to the location and the woman was arrested in the Sunrise Apartments area. Investigations carried out at the scene revealed that the woman had allegedly attempted to break into a home on Old Crew Road but was disturbed by the occupier. She ran from the house spurring the off-duty officer, who happened to be in the area at the time, to give chase. Police said that the woman remains in police custody at this time.

This is another symptom of the sad society Cayman has become.
Jail. No a/c. No tv. crappy food. some skills teaching and some time to think about a better way of living.
Throw the whole library at her… why we keep makingpeople think they can get away with things. People think they can go ahead and do as they please and society asks them to just say sorry… wa appin’ to the paddle and belt? I obey the law because disobedience comes punishment, no consequences = my own law and I do as I please. I for one refuse to let my country go down that way… try so don’t make me see you breaking the law cuz I’ll throw the whole library and the kitchen sink
BRING BACK THE CAYMAN THAT HAD RESPECT FOR THE LAW
Inspector Owens is a very nice man. A very very nice man. I’m sure he tret the woman with dignity and respect and didnt overly friks her. The woman probably need HELP, not have the f*in book thrown at her, unless it be the Bible and she learn gods proper ways "thou shalt not covet thy neighbor’s house". Or his man servant. Or his Ox.
Keep up the good work officer. My cell number is [snip – CNS ed].
Oh sure, turn the other cheek and let her loose so she can come to my place and rob me next. If she had good Christian ethics, she wouldn’t have been breaking into the house in the first place, but she doesn’t. She’s a criminal. She needs to suffer for the evils she has chosen (and it was a choice) .
You go ahead and volunteer to be the next victim – just leave your wallet on the street and get it over with.
If they do cut her loose, she better hope she breaks into your house next, cause she sure as hell won’t like what she’ll get in mine.
You must be out of your mind. This kind of behaviour is terrorising our society!! What they should do is publish her (and all these other criminals) name and picture on CNS. We need to treat these people like the criminals they are even when they are family.
She’ll have lots of time to read the Bible in jail.
Let’s put the curch mouse in jail, just because he’s a menace to law and order with this "hug the criminals and let them go" attitude.
Either that or we put all the criminals in his house.
Does this mean that the crime wave is over?
Good job on the catch!!!
Judges: if found guilty, throw the freakin book at this person!
Here we are saying lousy guys, now a useless woman, good job inspector.put them away, the less of them on the prowl, the better we will all be.
AWESOME JOB INSPECTOR OWENS>>
Anytime I have had to deal with Inspector Owens I have found him to be a very fair and professional Police Officer. Half of those lazy bums would have kept driving while off duty and not even worry about someone committing a crime. However this Inspector of Police took time from his personal day off and ran down a suspect and caught her. THAT IS THE TYPE OF POLICE WE NEED HERE IN CAYMAN. Someone that will get the job done…on duty or not.
It is people like you inspector that gives me some hope that all is not lost in the Police Force.
Three cheers for Inspector Owens. Maybe we should give the police force mass leave so they will be on the streets to catch the criminals, and while they’re at it, give them some guns to use because it is not fair for the criminals to be armed and the police not.
