Have you all forgotten that Pirates Week was run by both Charles Glidden and Dave Martins.  After Charles left is post was never recruited for and remained vacant.

DONT FORGET PAT, It was Mike, Pat, Dave, and Charles who was the roots of Pirates week.  Dave will be missed, but I am sure Charles, Pat, and Casandra will do  good job of making this year the best ever.  Please do not be too late getting started.  We fo not know what 2010 will bring, so lets do it up this year.   Blessed

The crab in the bucked mentality seems to be thriving in some of the posts here. Why can’t you people get away from the party politics and applaud the fact that two able Caymanians have been appointed to spearhead the continuation of our festival this year? I do not know Cassandra but I know that Bernie Bush is a very good organiser, he has vision in these types of things and is a real man of the soil.

Of course I thank Dave Martins for his many contributions, and I have no idea of where he is now, but did it ever occur to you people that he may have opted out by his own choice? I welcome the change which might hopefully bring new ideas and improve on what has been done already.

If any of you took the time and listened to the program Loxley Banks and Sheryl Miller (Ebanks) did on Radio Cayman about the history of pirates week (I think I heard it last year) you would know the history of the festival and the fact that it was started by Jim Bodden but was the brainchild of Cardinal DaCosta and then built by Colin Panton, Ezzard Miller, and a string of other Caymanians. There is a lot of talenthere in the Cayman Islands guys! It is good to put the festival in new talented hands for a change.

The Pirates Week song that Cardinal sang seem to have faded away somewhere but I hope that Bernie will find it and make sure it gets the central airing it still deserves! That is Caymanian talent.

Anyho … Cassandra and Bernie this is one Caymanian out here supporting you. I know you will do a great job!

I also question why Mr. Martins needs to be replacxed by 2 people.  Not a wise move, Mac.

So here’s another example that the government is broke. Dave Martin’s was scheduled to retire in May and so he has but instead of our BROKE UDP government replacing him with one person they choose to replace him with two people. Damn the money must indeed be scarce. I guess we know now where at least some of the saving from the Civil Servants "Pensions Holiday" or "Theft" is going.

No mi son !!! Stand up Cayman. This UDP madness must stop and stop now !!!!

  6. All heil King McKeeva, Most Grand and Omnipotent Ruler of the Cayman Islands.

May He rule forever without the bother of accountability or due process.

    ALL BOW to King McKeeva!

    Long Live the King!

I congrat the two that have been assigned the job at pirates week office,I hope that they will be instrumental in trying to keep the title as I do not see where it causes any harm to this country, we can however make sure that the vulgar dancing that takes place do not happen, a good street dance with the old calypso music even some of the new ones are good, but in the parade and  street dance, throw out the vulgar suggestive music, that is some of what harms us and our culture.

Though I’m confident the new director and deputy director will do a fine job, Pirates Week without Dave Martins is like mac and no cheese.  I wonder what the story is behind this situation…
