Police set fire to more drugs seized in operations
(CNS): Officers from the RCIPS incinerated more drugs this week when they set some 1600lbs of ganja, cocaine and ecstasy alight at the George Town dump. The drugs burned at the landfill early Tuesday morning had been seized by officials during various operations and are no longer required as evidence. Some of the drugs were also was washed up around the shores of Grand Cayman. "It shows that proactive policing is working and we are able through a combination of different departments to actually put a dent in the importation of drugs into the Cayman Islands," RCIPS Chief Inspector, Malcom Kay, said. The discovery earlier this year of drugs which had been seized and wrapped in customs tape, at the Cayman Brac landfill however as still not been explained.
CNS has contacted the police and customs officials regarding the find by local people at the dump but no one has yet explained how drugs supposedly seized by officials could find their way onto the dump outside of an official destruction event.
Meanwhile, the customs department has confirmed that an officer who was suspended more than eight months ago in connection with drugs being exported to the United Kingdom remains off duty as the investigation into the events continues.

Good. Burn it all. I for one am heartened to read of drugs being destroyed. Drugs do no good for our livestyle or our culture. Find it and burn it. Kudos to all involved who got rid of this foul stuff; it may be a drop in the bucket, but it's an important drop.
