Cayman jet-ski champ returns home a hero

| 17/10/2011

(CNS): Local jet-ski champion Jordan ‘JJ’ McLean returned to the Cayman Islands on Sunday a hero of the water craft world after his victory at the 2011 IJSBA World Championship Finals in Lake Havasu Arizona last weekend. Cayman’s Yamaha FZR rider, who has now added a world title to his trophy cabinet, had a clean sweep this summer coming in first in every Pro Runabout Limited race, firmly establishing him as one of the sport’s elite riders with a world title. McLean also came in second in the Expert Runabout Limited race behind Kuwait’s Abadullah Alfadhel. McLean follows in the footsteps of Jason Smith, who took Cayman to victory in the sport in Lake Havasu back in 2003.

Wow! This is great news also for our Caymanian people but not enough coverage given. The pic is actually at a local circuit race. I heard he also won the Canadian National Title in July and the American National Title in August 2011 in his classes. No one heard of this young man victories until now!!

Congrats JJ! I saw a nice article in the Cayman Compass today as well and heard you also won the Canadian National Title and the US National Title in The Pro Classes as well. You are humbly doing your thing as not many of us knew you were doing so good overseas representing us. I actually like what Hon Scotland had to say you are right up there with the other elite athletes. Way to go!!

Congratulations JJ! You made us proud to show us up amongst the 40 countries, 39 states and 700 plus riders at the Jet Ski World Finals.  Stay positive and focus and more good things will come your way.  Please remember the young boys are watching you as the sport is growing here now.

I'm very happy to find this article here too.
