Progressives to launch manifesto at national meeting
(CNS): The largest political group in the race for the Legislative Assembly will be launching its manifesto Thursday, setting out the Progressives' policies for government if it wins a majority at the polls later this month. The PPM will be hosting the launch in George Town, where they will present their plans. Opposition Leader Alden McLaughlin, who is hoping to wake up on 23 May as premier, said that the past four years of the UDP administration has been a failure of “epic proportions" and a period like no other the Cayman Islands had ever seen. He said the Progressive party would be setting out what it would do once in office.
“The manifesto we will present tomorrow is a promise to the people of Cayman,” McLaughlin said. “We believe the Progressives offer the best hope for the kind of leadership that Cayman needs in these challenging times. “The first and foremost challenging task of a new administration is to restore trust and confidence in the government and the Cayman Islands as a whole.”
He said the Progressives manifesto was the pledge of the team to work together to bring back pride to Caymanians and residents who love this country. The goals detailed in the manifesto include a blueprint to restore confidence in the government, stamp out corruption, re-build the economy and reduce the cost of living and provide more opportunities.
The full team of candidates running in the Sister Islands, Bodden Town, West Bay and George Town will be there to talk about the PPM policies. The meeting starts at 7:30pm at the Kirk Home Centre.

Boy unnah C4C are busy picking that fight with the PPM eh? Wha tis unnah plans? Do you intend to fire most of the Civil Servants? What are you going to do with Social Services? What are your plans for the unemployed? C4C What are your intentions? Do you have solutions? or are you dependent on the PPM ideas and Manifesto to be revealed, so unnah could steal their ideas. C4C are the biggest critics of the PPM, yet they have no solutions. You think putting all those accountants and lawyers that never done anything for country in the past is the solution, you will be very disappointed on May 22nd, 2013 when the silent majority votes. Civil Servant beware what the C4C intentions are. Your lives will be disrupted, while they balance the sheets and wheel and deal this country for their lobbyists. PPM is the right party to steady this ship from the corruption and the roaring Lions.

Alden's pandering arguments of reopening West Bay Road sounded lame, where was he in voicing these thought in the last 3 years?
They can try re-launching the Titanic as far as I'm concerned, I am not voting for any of them, and that includes those other jokers from the UDP and "UDP2". I'm voting Independent as I'm sick to death of this party foolishness, it's the ruination of the country. (And what the heck's the kindergarten stupidness with the colours? Look so flakey, like signalling "I haven't got a mind of my own", just so you know!)

Last night i felt like i was in a history class. All they talked about was the past. We need new leaders with vision and foresight who can restore our country to the envy of the rest of the world.
The "Progressives" hail themselves as the saviors of Cayman politics because they are not corrupt.
Unless they are able to deal with the size of government and governmental spending and do this by cutting costs then they are not up to the task at hand.
The PPM powder puff discussion of the road and the Boddentown dump will not turn the country around.
I frankly have not seen or heard anything from Alden to suggest that he is up to the challenges the country faces at this time.
Cheerleading is not enough this country must enact the suggestions of the Miller-Shaw report and be straight with the voters.
More spending by the Progressives will only lead us to direct taxation and if that is the case it should be called "the Alden tax".

Ummm… I think they launched their campaign and introduced their candidates at that time. At the time that there were screams that we did not hear of plans and policies to address the challenging issues that face. That is what a manifesto is all about.

Say what you want about the PPM. But one thing you can never say is that at no time did you ever open the news paper and saw PPM and corruption in the same headline of any story!
Your comment is typical of all PPM supporters. The PPM strategy is very evident this election… ‘Vote for us because we aren’t the UDP’. And that might be enough for some but if you think that strategy is going to be enough to put the PPM back in power you are sadly mistaken. Cayman has gotten smarter since you were last in office. We’re on to you. We see your steady use of buzz words like integrity, honesty and transparency but when it comes to solutions you all are at a lost for words.
