Mac: I believe I can win
(CNS): The UDP were the hands down winners on Tuesday in the West Bay battle of the meetings when McKeeva Bush demonstrated that, despite the 11 criminal charges laid against him, his popularity in his home district is as strong as ever. While Bush’s former political colleagues in the PNA struggled to attract even a hundred supporters and the Progressives had to be content with a pedestrian crowd of less than 200, Bush and his West Bay team attracted more than 500 enthusiastic, cheering, supporters to his meeting at the Four Way Stop. “I believe I can win … there are more for me as against me,” Bush told the crowd but warned his people not to be complacent.
Appearing on the hustings Tuesday night with his three district running mates, Velma Powery, Bernie Bush and Capt Eugene Ebanks, as well as Jonathan Piercy from his George Town team, the former premier demonstrated why he has been returned to office seven times. Bush delivered a similar speech to the one he has made repeatedly over the last four years when he spoke about the need to attract investors and criticized the PPM for what he called the “borrow and spend” policies during their administration.
Bush absolved himself of any responsibility for the increased unemployment in the district levels but said it was the blindness of those people who had opposed him. He criticised what he described as the “sentimentality” of those that wanted to preserve the West Bay Road and defended the Dart Deal with the NRA and government.
He also took aim at his former colleagues, ironically, given the stack of charges he faces himself, criticising Rolston Anglin's recent drunk driving conviction. Bush told the crowd not to be fooled by the C4C. However, he saved his worst condemnation for the PPM, which he said did not deserve to get one single seat in the LA.
Despite the show of force, he warned that the UDP had not won yet, as he urged supporters to spread the word to vote for the United Democratic Party and implored them to vote straight. “Do not split your vote,” he said. “It is a dangerous thing.” Displaying a sample ballot sheet on a large screen he told the crowd how to vote.
Meanwhile, in the Turtle Farm parking lot just a mile or so away, Bush’s former running mates Rolston Anglin and Cline Glidden of the PNA were still hopeful that they could cut into the solid support he commands in the district.
Speaking to an eager but far smaller crowd of around 75 people, Glidden said they made a mistake running with Bush in the past and were now going to correct that. Distancing themselves from the spectre of corruption which has dogged the last four years of the government of which they were a part, Glidden tried hard to break the dependency culture that he and Anglin have helped to perpetuate and on which the UDP has built support.
Glidden said that the district did not need to elect the UDP to get their veterans' benefits, pensions, scholarships, jobs or other support which comes from government. Glidden said the money came from tax-payers, not Mckeeva Bush, and the district was not beholden to him or dependent on him for its financial well-being.
At the Ed Bush stadium in the heart of the district, the PPM had a small crowd of around 175 people who were considerably more restrained than those that came out to support Bush. Ray Farringinton, Dalkieth Bothwell, Woody Da Costa and Capt Bryan Ebanks did their best to highlight the shortcomings of the representation in the district over the last dozen years.
The opposition team, which is still facing an uphill struggle in the district even though the UDP also faces a split vote, warned people not to vote because of favours or for those who trumpeted their Christian values while behaving dishonourably. The candidates spoke a great deal about the PPM manifesto and their plans for office and were joined by their George Town team mates Joey Hew and Marco Archer.

If Bush wins, we loose. It's truly just as simple as that.
Mac said on TV that he knew of corruption and illegal practices but did not want to pursue it because the people involved were Caymanians. What sort of message does that send?
That he would like the same 'courtesy' extended to him.
Mmmm…makes me wonder exactly who those Caymanians might be.
Cayman will always have this problem until it changes its election structure. We need national elections for national leaders. Has anyone ever thought that maybe Bush ran the country the way he did because he didn't answer to the country for his actions? Given the current system, he only had to worry about a thousand of so goofballs in one district to ensure his reelection. Once in, it's easy for a master slimeball politician to horsetrade and arm twist his way to enough votes for whatever cabinet post he or she desires.
When people in Bodden Town or George Town scream their disapproval, why should Bush care? They don't vote in West Bay.
Imagine the day when somebody becomes premier after winning a whopping 200 votes in Northside.
We are not a democracy. We are a madhouse.
Our country should be run by one nationally elected mayor and a few department heads. This place is a village in any other country. It is stunning to ponder who much money, time and energy is wasted by idiots running around pretending that this is Brazil or China. It's a small town, accept that and act accordingly. Nothing to be ashamed of, nothing to deny.
If we would stop deluding ourselves we could be a great small town instead of a kooky corrupt little puffed up bannana republic that pretends to be an empire.
You are an idiot. Except for population size there is no comparison whatsoever between Cayman and a village in any other country. We have complex issues at a local, national and international level. Cayman functions like a country.
This man is an embarassment to our country. If we re-elect him, then we have no one to blame but ourselves. He has multiple charges stacked against him and he believes his place is to then comment on the legal issues of others? Pot calling the kettle black, McKeeva. Bush needs to be forced to step down, get out of the limelight of our island and we need to stop him from being our voice. He has nothing intelligent to say and nothing productive and useful to contribute to our country's future. Lets make the right decisions next week and put someone in power who is actually competent and knows how to address the population.
Sorry! Too late! McKeeva Bush and the whole UDP slate has already won the elections. Wipe up those tears now……………….as I said. It's too late so SUCK it up!!!
Don't you wish. Not to worry, you'll come out of it in about a week. Hopefully you'll even regain use of that grey stuff between your ears.
of course he can win….
we live in a place where the best and brightest cannot vote or be elected…
we live in a place where the majority of people have no representation…
we live in a place where people like capt. eugene can get elected repeatedly….
we live in a place where juju can become premier…..
we live in a place where no plotician resigns no matter what laws they have broken…..
we live in a place where no politician has got the honesty and guts to tackle the real problems that are draggin cayman down…
I dont get this comment "we live in a place where the best and brightest cannot vote or be elected…"
Please elaborate
the writer is saying that expats are brighter and smarter…Caymanians are dumb.
If you inserted "some of" before "the best and the brightest" it would true.
never said caymanians were dumb…
Didn't you know? It must be assumed that expats are inherently superior to Caymanians.
08:54, EXPATS is the word you are looking for.
or maybe experts….
Trolltastic
proves my point…obviously not the birghtest…but i bet you can vote or get elected….
West Bay get your affears in order and maybe more educated people will live down there and fix some of the problems you all down there.
Like helping the Special needs persons, Big Mac should be ashame of simply not helping those persons who really need it most down there..
Remember the shooting as every morning you wake up you hear someone dead. Big Mac had 4 years to sort out West Bay gang problem.
West Bay voters dont forgt the road deal and all the other deals Big Mac help himself to.
WAKE UP people
Wow, it still shocks me, as an educated person, that there is so much as one miss guided sole who would vote for this train wreck of a country distroying, white hot mess of a career politian.
Just how daft can you be?It defies reason and makes me question the sanity of all West Bayers, and Caymanian voters in general.
Assuming you did not receive a new appliance, Would you say you better off now then you were four years ago? If not, then why are you jumping on the wastefulness wagon?
Someone explain it to me. Maybe I am unable to see the allure…please educate me, great uneducated masses.
To the 'educated person', i.e. Anonymous 20:07; For starters, your sentences are run- ons, you have used caps where not required and this in the first line " one miss guided sole", should read, "misguided soul"
He spoke his mind again straight from the hip. Besides, martyrdom really suits him, and the people who support himactually see him as such, it would have been better to ignore him because that's the card he's playing. He reminds me more of Richard Nixon every day.
Wake up people. If he gets in we are on the road to independence – and that will be a very short road. The UK will not put up with any more of Mr. Bush. The money will move, the jobs will go with it, and this place will not be fit for the dogs to live. Just sayin.
West Bay, West Bay, WEST BAY! DO NOT VOTE Mckeeva Bush on May 22nd! This man only cares about himself and he has lost his honesty and integrity. UDP MUST NOT get back in the government! PPM is another big political failure, thanks to them we are looking at financial ruin. I hear them saying "for love of country". WELL WE NEED TO SAVE THIS COUNTRY! PNA and C4C all the way! 🙂
I was with you until the PNA part. No way i would elect those gutless cowards to so much as scoop my dog’s doodoo. If you didn’t have guts then you won’t get my vote now. We need real patriots, and people of honor, not spineless wankers.
####### CNS did you count WB voters or focused on attendees? Thaught so!
There was about 150 WB voters there. ######### Up to his old tricks again everyone from everywhare that cannot vote in the district, as he always say the #'s always fools people into thinking he is still popular,
not so, not this time Bo BOOO.
Just you wait and see. Numbers will show you on election day. You scared now nah?? McKeeva and the whole UDP slate carry this one! Shame on you bout C4C and PNA. Who dey is now ya say????
07:38 you are so right. There were 500 out there screaming and half of them cannot vote. The PPM did not have the numbers, but do not let that fool you!! Some West Bayers are still afraid of Bush spies seeing them at The Progressives Meetings because they know how ruthless he can be. Don't worry The Progressive have good support down there.
Total HOGWASH!!
Interesting..God trys so hard to even things out, to some he gives brains and to others he gives balls of brass. Guess Mac's were so big he can't see the potholes in the road
I have to assume its not his brain that’s too big…
You can always tell an idiot by the things they say!!!
Yes, But you do know that its not something that you should boast about?
CAYMAN – prepare yourselves for another four years of bush – there is an underlying hard core of blinkered, ignorant voters, who think the Sun shines out of his ass. – Which will be bolstered when Ju Ju shows hers true colours. The island will only be rid of him when eventually, a Higher Authority calls him to account.
No, I honestly don't think the sun is shining on his ass ! BUT I KNOW FOR SURE THE SON OF GOD IS SHININGDOWN ON HIM. Ignorancy is certainly shining down on you it seems!
"The Son of God is shining down on him" – I think that is called Blasphemy and there is a law in the Bible against that.
If bush is re-elected AND becomes leader of the new Government, we may see the biggest exodus of business and individuals since Hurricane Ivan. It could be the death of Cayman. The only thing left would be Dart’s developments which are analogous to to someone building a very expensive Model Railway.
That is not going to happen.
If you mean he will not become the leader of govt again then I agree.
its very alarming the hate people have on CNS about Mackeeva Bush, do we not come from the same island if you cut him does he not bleed also?. Show me one person that is perfect and without sin. Its funny how people can speak of hear say but cant speak about the facts of good what Mr Bush has done for the country. As far as my memory severes me correct a man is proven innocent until guilty in a court of law . How many times have we as people acuse people every day of doing something so are we to convict them before getting the facts first. No wonder out siders think the local are foolish people stop the hate and pray for your leaders at the end of the day God already knows who he will put in the LA we need to show people that we are a Island of love not hate and that we have much more common sense
Sense a foreign accent in this post……… possibly Jordanian
23:08, Killa Whittaker must be pissed that Jordanian has now become the new mouthpiece for Mac!
He contradicts himself everytime he opens his mouth, usually about prosecuting people for breaking the law………….yet he shouts from the hills about Mac.
Based on your comment, it is people like you that are preventing this country from progressing at all. What does the fact that McKeeva Bush comes from our islands and bleeds like a human being have to do with anything? He was elected into government (at our hands, yes) but what he did while he was in government was XXXX untrustworthy, deceitful and ultimately XXXXX. You are right – no one is perfect, but that does not mean that you should not be held accountable for your actions. The fact that you believe that everyone is born with a veil of sin upon them does not mean that they are then exempt from retribution based on their actions later in life.
Look at what Bush has done for our country? OK, lets do that: he's been involved in underhanded political dealings, dragged our country's name through the mud, has been arrested with multiple charges levelled against him, and at the end of the day he is a barely competent individual. God has nothing to do with who ends up in our LA, we need to make the right decisions. We need to be an informed population. We need to make intelligent choices for our country's future. No one is going to helps us if we do not help ourselves, and the first step to helping ourselves get out of the hole we've dug ourselves is to pick the right leaders, with the right plans for a more productive future.
We don't hate mckeeva. He is most certainly not worth that. We just would very simply and very much prefer not to have him destroying our lives and our children's future and our country any more than he has already done.
Well, get your ass out there and work and support your many generations of family members if he or anyone can it for you. It is hot his responsibility to provide for you and yours!!
Anyone have a straight jacket this dude can borrow?
Show me your gas card!
18:01, you are clearly deluded or family to Mac, probably both.
I am not going to waste my time explaining to you the implications of voting somebody to represent this country when they have criminal charges pending against them, because you clearly don't understand the gravity of the situation.
You should do some research on your own, there are many instances around the world, but focus your time on UK politicians since we are an overseas territory.
I would also ask you to look at the Turks & Caicos situation because it is a glaring example of what will happen to Cayman should that muppet Macdipshit get any where being Premier again.
And you finsih your diatribe with "we have much more common sense", not quite sure you or anyone from West Bay can count yourself are having any common sense whatsoever by giving Mac one of your votes.
No, what is clear here is that you are a total idiot and haven't a clue what you are talking about. What have YOU done for your country? Anything??????????????
My good deeds for Cayman don't involve playing with the needy to garner votes, stealing or profiting from my job, reckless spending, lying consistently thus creating complete uncertainty, should I go on? And then claiming you are godly?
My good deeds for Cayman involve representing the country in sports and community service for years and years and years.
And I do know what I am talking about because I was born and raised here, am well educated and don't fall for sh*t that Mac spews from his mouth consistently.
Birds of a feather …
A vote for Bush just means they are O K with continued corruption and the most incompetent leadership EVER . Looks like the Bushits will vote for keeping the gas cards.
you are a moron
bush worked hard and got us off the grey list and prevented TAXES !!
I’m afraid that it is you sir that have the moronic leanings.
You mean like the Expat tax?
whose dirty work and mis management got us on the grey list may I ask? ohhh I thought so….. stop smoking that shit down in WestGhanistan!
The OECD grey list was a European academic group's subjective ranking of compliance efforts and cooperative jurisdictions. It had nothing to do with the threat of direct taxation from our own recurrent fiscal mistakes.
It was First Cayman Bank that got us on the grey list !!
In his 2001 – 2005 term as LOGB Bush did not sign one single TIEA and therefore was the greatest contributor to us being on the grey list. In 2009 he merely completed signing some of the TIEAs which the PPM had started whilst in office, the PPM having signed 9.
Bush did not prevent taxes. He increased taxes and the cost of doing business here.
18:06, YOU are the moron and clearly do not understand anything.
18:06, and further to my previous comment, if Bush becomes leader agaiin of this country, there are going to be a slew of lists that Cayman is put on, most notably the "we are broke because all of our industry has left Cayman and gone somewhere else".
Give me a break!! He was trying to tax the Expat community!!
Fellow Caymanians, please do not be fooled and gullible by Mac. He is doing this for himself, not the people or the country!!! Vote smart, it may be your last oppurtunity to do so.
I will make a prediction on Mac. He will get in west Bay by himself. He will lose his case and Joey's case also. He will drag this country into a digraceful place that will breed job loss, social services not able to pay indigents, veterans, seamen, old people, young people and children without food, elect, water or phone to call family. There will be chaos and unrule of law crime will go up. Mac will blame the UK that there is no money. West Bayers will believe him.
Uk will bring money when they come to take over Cayman.
The UK will offer help but it will be different this time. Their people will be in total control with no parliament to call or talk too. The civil service will lose a lot of jobs and salaries will be rolled back.
The port will be cancelled, the airport will be lengthened and renovated. The cayman islands will be in a credit balance. The Europeans will come to teach again in the schools. The next generation kids will learn and progress through schooling and experience. There will be an influx of more UK people coming to teach on job training while working and supervising . Our kids will leave the country because there will be no jobs (no experience)only at entry level.
So it will be a win-win situation for the …………………………………………………
Bush is very astute he knows that he just has to first get in the he can deal with anything else that comes along, so he will continue to keep the people of the West in poverty so he can buy then of very cheaply every election so he gets elected then he can work his mischief from within.
Brilliant realy.
True but astute and Brilliant? No way.
Calculating, Devious, Heartless, Divisive. Yes.
I am curious as to where you would go if you just pack up and leave. I thought the UK was the only place a Caymanian could migrate without visas etc. The same for young Caymanians who are already overseas. If they decide to stay away, is that in the UK too? Can you do that without having a promise of employment? Or do you self-sponsor via investment? How does that work?
You are too stupid to to figure that out then your too stupid to leave.
16:36, are you stupid?
How do you think all the expats from around the world come to Cayman or any other country for that matter?
Its pretty easy really, you apply for a visa, it gets granted and you go! Wowzers, how difficult is that to understand.
It is extremely scary to come to grips with the fact McKeeva will most likely be re-elected to the LA. It is even more frightening to think of what will happen if UDP came into power for another 4 yrs. As a young Caymanian of birth and heritage should this happen I will pack my things up along with my immediate family and simply leave Cayman. And to think after furthering my education overseas I made the decision to return home to see how I could be a benefit to my people and my community. However, it is clearly pointless should this man be allowed in power once again. Furthermore, I am quite sure all the young Caymanians overseas currently pursuing further studies will simply decide to stay away and just visit once and a while if this is the outcome. We have already seen this begin to happen during the past 4 yrs. With this man at the helm, there will be no other choice for Caymanians but to simply move on and start over in another country. We will be like our next door neighbors.
I agree with you. When I told that exact thing to my mother this morning, she looked scared. I am serious as a judge. I will bid farewell to my people here, pick up my family and leave. Mark my words on that.
At the end of the day, a People will get the Government they deserve!
So here is one type of "non-scientific" analysis:
The district in question is West Bay, let us guess-timate how many people fall into the category of "My mind is made up, don't confuse me with facts" and how many fall into the category which can be "assisted" with the actual voting process.
If there are enough of them, Mac will get his wish and get elected!
I noticed Bush criticized the PPM for what he called the “borrow and spend” policies during their administration. Is "waste and steal" any better?
How about the UDP's "tax and frivolously spend" policy?
Mac is the opposite of Robin Hood. He steals from the poor to give to the Rich developers. If only those poor people would get their heads out of the woods they would see how true this is.
Mac: I believe I can fly
When pigs fly…oh wait, that's redundant!
Just check out the queue at his house today.
Free kool aid and all you can carry horse manure.
Would the last person to leave the Country please turn off the light…..
Famous or infamous newspaper headline just before 1992 UK Election….
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/It's_The_Sun_Wot_Won_It
Remember folks the One Man One Vote referendum was very telling.
It passed in EVERY district except West Bay were the margin of for vs against was very very small. If there had not been a disinfirmation campaign by McKeeva and the UDP to confuse the electorate, that by the way was paid for again with OUR dollars, quite a few more West Bayers would have voted FOR it. I heard of a number of voters that voted AGAINST it thinking they were voting against McKeeva.
Overall the result was a clear indication that the majority of voters were for what the UPD was against. This time around Mac and the UDP cannot change the goal posts in their favor by requiring 50% of the electorate plus 1 to get their way. PLUS so many that were eligible to vote for OMOV were so incensed at being disenfranchised by the "Premiers" self enacted cut off date which made them ineligible to vote, that they made sure they registered for the upcoming election. Combine the disenfranchised new voters plus everything else that has come out since the referendum, the UDP, Mac and anyone assoctiated with them are grasping at straws thinking they will win with ineligible voters showing up at their meetings just to add to the noise level.
Question: with everyone saying they won't work with McKeeva, what will happen if he DOES get elected into a coalition government – can he be forced out? Will they step down? Will they wait until he is convicted to do something? I don't want the unfortunate scenario whereby the UDP wins by default should Mac get back in…. what does the law say?
dont worry, udp will win they all ALL come running like little puppies the the "master" lol
I wonder which came first corrupt voters or corrupt politicians?
entitlement
My mother always says: fyah deh a yuh backside an yuh tink ah cool breeze.
st peter, how bout corrupt cardinals, priests, or church members. I bet you never thought about that one eh :))>)
We MUST find out where he has those fridges stashed and report it to the election observers forthwith.
Can't we just do a deal with the Cubans? We will return all their illegals if they give Mac one of their small unpopulated islands and a few years supply of food/water? That way he can tell the sharks how right he is and what a good Christian man..
Did Mac hire R. Kelly to be his new speech writer???
If he does get re-elected, god forbid, i hope the MLAs have enough sense not to vote hm in as premier.
oh my, i really need an mla job
If the UDP gets the majority in the assembly or enough independents to support a UDP government, McKeeva will be premier again. Even if anothr UDP member was chosen as premier, the country woul still be ran by McKeeva just like how tyrant Fidel is still running Cuba though tyrant Raul is now head of state there.
10.02 Please get this Straight how you are calling all West Bayers Donkeys because NOT all West Bayers Support McKeeva Bush.
We are only calling the donkey-faced, carrot-eating, milk-drinking, mckeevarites donkeys.
I live in West Bay and am voting there,, but am originally from another district in the Cayman Islands ,and I am certainly not voting for McKeeva or any UDP/PNA candidates. I shiver thinking of another four yearss of UDP rule.
Only one who lacks understanding and is simple minded, couldn't understand the joke. It is no wonder you don't understand, know what it means to be corrupt or what is corruption. Vote for the right people and stampout CORRUPTION, then we can move on. Corruption stagnates.
If he goes to jail on the corruption charges, will he still receive his pension in prison?
Not 1 pension but 2, plus the "gifts" from his friends who keep the secrets.
If convicted, he will probably be put under house arrest in the Ritz.
In Coconut Grove that is, the onewith the Hard Rock Casino.
Any Caymanians in the crowd?
The few Caymanians that were there, were mainly there to observe and listen, that does not mean that we support you MAC so you can go have a seat before your head explode – geeez!!!
No Caymanian in the crowd. Meh Left meh yad te go ah UDP meeting, cause meh get meh status.
no caymanians here !! cant you see that ???????????????
That 500 is all that they will get come 22 May. You can be assured that like Napoleon, McKeeva is about to meet his Waterloo. Time for him to go read or write a book. I sugest that he title it ' My Big Mistake' or should it be Mistakes? Time for Mervin and Tara.
The sad thing is that I am very concerned that he is actually right with his assumption. People can be just so darn ignorant and would do something stupid like voting him back in just to spite anyone else.
We have to hope that West Bay AND George Town end up doing the right thing……
Yup. If he or any of his cronies came to my doorstep, I would definitely have to tick boxes 4, 5 and 6 on CNS' alternative Ballot Paper: http://centos6-httpd22-php56-mysql55.installer.magneticone.com/o_belozerov/31115drupal622/politics/2013/05/15/polls-emerge-campaign-tool-results-secret
If you subtract 400 non voting jamaicans from that we have nothing to sorry about.
A lot of the peopple at the meeting were Jamaicans but they may be ones that he granted status to, thus allowing them eligibility to vote. With his love of them and their style of politics, I think he shoud decide to go there and run as a politician.
I don't know why this man is in such a deep sleep!
Cayman, let me tell you this. If you vote for the UDP-PERIOD it shows how stupid we really are. We would just be living up to the title already bestowed upon us. Don't you people care about this country?? Where it is going? Where it has gone in the past 4 years? Our reputation stink ah road! & we need to turn that around!!! McKeeva has no use for this country. He cares only about his pockets and what he can take home. When it is all said and done, the Jamaicans will leave to go back ah yaad. McKeeva will pick up his family and dip, and retire probably in Cuba or Jamaica. Who knows what connects this man has out there. It is time to look out for us, and our own! THINK BEFORE YOU VOTE CAYMAN!
If the man believes he is going to win, you better watch out and take him seriously! He means what he says and says what he means! :))
Nah bobo, it's Mervin and Tara's time to shine!
The one District that UDP is certain to win in is West Bay with a full house.
FRIGHTNING, FRIGHTNING, FRIGHTNING!!!
My brain is just MANGLED after reading this article.
Our future was mostly uncertain after this last four years, but it is surely DOOMED now.
Even more frightening was the trash spouting out of his mouth on the panel last night – totally sickening to think anyone might believe his fantasies. And he simply found it impossible to give a simple yes or no answer – which tends to suggest to me the answer would have been no but he padded it out to try and disguise that fact…
Ladies and Gentlemen,
There is an Angel among us. He can do no wrong, for he has said so unto the multitudes. Despite having done whatever he so wished in his timeas Premier, not having heard any criticism or allowing anyone to stop him, unemployment is not his fault. Alleged criminaly actions are not his fault. Dodgy tenders are not his fault, if. For he is an Angel.
And I believe I can fly…I believe I can touch the sky..
I think the technical term is dillusional paranoid schizophrenic..thank God only 500 West Bayers out, lets hope they were "rent-a-crowd".
That is why I vote PNA because they are the setting the record straight. I agree with you 100%
PNA/UDP same old, same old. The UDP keeps repeating, meeting after meeting that they have 2 Independents in Bodden Town who are UDP. We know, and are making sure that our X will not go for either one of the 3. God, steer the good ship Cayman, to deeper waters with an healthy crew and take us out of the storm of tumultious waves, that is about to swamp our ship.
Their crowds are never West Bayers in the majority – imports from GT.
Lord save Cayman from this madman and his brainless followers.
Has anybody seen yesterday how he carried on when he was on the Panel with Roy and Alden? Good Lord! He even was trying to tell the moderator how to do her job!
How he looks so busy shuffling through his paper, and taking notes just shows that he doesn't pay anyone or anything any mind. He can't even hold a decent conversation.
It is like my husband said it – despite this being his birth country and all his ancestors in the grave yard here, but if this man gets back to power, we have no choice but to pack up and move on.
He was a disgrace on the panel. He is so manipulative with the others answers and so rude. Lets hope the sensible outnumber the stupid in West Bay.
John McEnroe needs to come to the Cayman Islands to be an "Honorary Ambassador" (see Marcouza & EdLin). After the appearances on The Panel tuesday night and Rooster wednesday morning McEnroe could add some diginity to the position just by YELLING at all the UDP candidates and especially McKeeva:
THE QUESTION!!!!
JUST ANSWER THE QUESTION!!!!
I agree with your comments and I liken the show last nite to one where I had the privilege of being asked to sit on a panel re the North Sound Dredging. It was Mac and Mr Bob Soto and myself. What he went on with that night was shameful to say the least and he threatened more than once to walk off the show because Tammi was asking him to refrain from going beyond reason in his replies. To put it in a nutshell he was a "bully"as he was last nite and he wanted ALL the say as per his "bullying" in the LA when asked to stop by the Speaker of the house. It will be unfortunate if he is indeed voted back in and a HUGE mistake if he regains power as this will surely be the nail in Caymans Coffin for the future.
I would sooooo love to see those notes he's always writing and reading at every debate? Or perhaps he gets somebody to write down all answers to all possible questions and he is shuffling the papers to try and find a suitable answer to use…. that was certainly the case with his last little speech.
McKeeva is a rather clever politician. If it is true that the UDP discussed their intentions of splintering the party to divide into UDP / PNA, and some of their supporters to run as C4C, then it is a clever strategy to continue the Dart and other UDP policies which opposition said they will stop. If this is so. It would be the greatest deceptive plan against the voting electorate ever in Cayman's history. To see after elections the LA members all declare they are UDP when many of them ran PNA and C4C, all to elect McKeeva back as the Premier, will be in Cayman's history, the worse election trickery yet! I hope this is not the case! Yet many people don't want the PPM back in because monies were not accounted for under their tenure as well as how they managed the countries finances… what? over 81 million dollars deficit and monies unaudited. We know what happened. It caused the UK to restrict the country from borrowing. What a fix the country would be in if these two entities PNA and C4C are not what they say they are, and people are scared to vote in PPM, so they vote them in. It is like Russian Roulette.
pot smoker!
Guess you didn't watch the Panel last night. Clearly, C4C does not want to work with the UDP. It was issued in a statement today.
Roy McTaggart came out and pledged not to join a party, so did Stefan Baraud. The Independents have promised to work with all MLAs but refuse to wear colors and join the "Parties".
Well done too. I think the Independents can wipe out the corruption and cronyism.
Ask all the Independents- I think you will see, the are going to clean up Cayman. Bye Bye Big Mac, XXXX.
Wake up!! During the 2009 campaign and elections, their was and Independent running in my disrtict, who declared she was 'Independent', and in 2013 she declared as UDP, what she was in 2009. How these people try to fool and decieve the public to grab a position. Keep the UDP/PNA and the deceivers hitched on the outside.
Where is this foolishness coming from? I drove around West Bay and took count. The PNA had an attendance of easily 300 people. UDP had about 100 and many of whom were not even from West Bay. PPM's crowd was about 150.
something about purple
10.29…lets hope you are right…we know if Mac says 500 it means 150, unless of course its going into his own pocket when it suddenly becomes 750, with only 150 reported. But thats OK, he is always right. I know, I read that he said so, heard it on the radio. So it must be true, right?
This article is full of crap. UDP would have had more people there yes, because they had no live coverage- plus it's UDP's strongest district. HELLARRR?! PPM had live coverage- and I stayed home in the comfort of my bedroom and watched it. This is utter BS. This article would be fairly ok if PPM's meeting wasn't broadcasted live. Include that in your article CNS.
Lord please help some on these snitches, backstabbers, and cuthroats cause if this is true they are going have to run to live in Northside and those disloyal "gowernment "employees, Lord! Asylum is looking good in Cuba and Honduras What heat in dey draws seat!
I wonder if the forever honerable Mr. Bush has given any thought at all as to how it will feel to be opposition to the PPM Government for a change. Thankfully for him, if it does happen, it will only be for a few weeks until he is put on permanent involuntary leave. With only one undeserved pension. Hopefully Mr. Dart and some of those Chinese folks and some of those extremely fortunate pastors will be considerate enough to pay him a visit.
This is absolutely unbelieveable.
No not really, drive around West Bay and chat with the locals and you will see why this is possible, I do suggest however you treat it like a safari and do not leave the vehicle
Of course he does. For the last 30yrs the donkey Bayers have voted for him and will continue to do so till he decides to retire.. Mark my words unfortunately the UDP will walk with all the votes in WB due to the donkey Bayers, they have no idea…. I think it is time we ask dart to extend his canal under the bridge across to SMB, we then make WB it’s own country and they and us would require a passport to visit us. We could also put a toll both at say $10 so we wouldn’t have these idiots coming to visit us in GT….
Wed 10:02 You are the biggest idiot of all making such stupid remarks! Ask God to give you some sense because definitely you are lacking a lot to write such nonsence! Why waste time writing such stupidness – instead try doing something decent for the island which will be beneficial to all!
"I believe I can win"
Sadly, he is correct……given the number of candidates running, he could actually win with a small number of votes.
What a frightening thought.
Wake up West Bay. For God's sake, and for the sake of your country, and your future, and your children, please wake up.
PNA is a thorn on UDP's side. I don't believe Mac will win this one. If any candidate steal his votes, it's going to be Cline and Rolston of the PNA
I believe McKeeva can win too. However, he must not. Here is how I see it.
EE – Arden – Won't side with UDP, NS Ezzard – Won't side with UDP, Juliana – will side with anyone to stay in power, Moses – PPM. So 3 against UDP, 1 potentially for. The above are a given I believe. 14 seats left. Worst case scenario below.
Lets assume UDP win 4 in WB. Lets assume UDP win 2 in town. Lets assume UDP win 1 in BT. UDP 7 OTHERS 3, Juliana 1
Leaves 7 seat,s 4 in town, 3 in Bodden Town.
So UPD only need 2 more assuming Juliana goes with UDP. This is very dangerous given that the UDP supporters vote straight.
Scary? If you vote in GT or BT please ensure that UDP do not get back in. It is a real possibility.
Well, there you have it. It is all about McKeeva, he said so himself "I believe I can win" – what about his team? I thought he was a part of a Team or a party? Just goes to show that, when it comes to UDP, he is the only one that matters.
"I believe I can win". This is what it has ALWAYS been entirely about with this madman, Cayman. It has NEVER been about serving you or our country. Please do your best to get this plague out of your affairs forever come next week.
McKeeva sees Dart as a God and many people, in particular those in West Bay, will blindly follow McKeeva they see Mac as a God.
Even McKeeva believes he is a God on Earth.
i'd vote udp over pna any day……
you are an idiot, they are all the "same dog puppy" – if you don't understand that it means they are all cut from the same ole dried, rotten cloth – useless !!
And I bet you believe you can fly!!
West Baya's going to let the rest of the Country down AGAIN…..same ole news…Gangsta's Paradise….GT and BT Vote Smart. I want indpendence from West Bay not the UK
Great idea. We can be like Haiti and Dominican Republic.
The Kool-Aid is strong on West Bay !
Kool aid or the high grade?
Maybe he offered them shares in his real estate and port-building consultancy.
How depressing to think that there may be so many fools still willing to support this idiot after all he has done to Cayman and its people. Are we really this stupid?
Why does the song I believe I can fly pop into my head when I read this headline?
Mac,
One question for you. With the FOI just receiving budget cuts, and the duty on CUC up and everyone struggling in Cayman, not that you can feel it, would you make a budget cut for politicians travel expensives if relected? Seeing as you admit that we are in hard times, would you make that cut?
I think I know the answer, but thought it might be funny to ask……….
"Displaying a sample ballot sheet on a large screen he told the crowd how to vote."
Translation: Do as I say becuase you can't think for yourselves, which is why I will get back into office.
When you have to show your electorate how to vote, it is a sign an IQ test is needed for all people before they vote.
Hmmm could this not be considred against the elections law..HOW did he get his hands on a "sample" ballot sheet???
How naive can you get Rorschsch 11:35? It did say "sample" you know the numbers of the candidates in West Bay which is all over the district on their posters and you make a "sample" of the basllot sheet. I sure hope you are not voting!
No thank you Mac. Even with your 11 counts and you still think you can win. Oh you can win with all the giving away you do. You have never though of teaching anyone to catch a fish instead every 4 years you give your Followers a Big one so they can depend on you for more. Your key in hand ( clef en main ) won’t work this time. My friends in West Bay please do the right thing because talk is cheap and his only mandate is to continue some of is very sshady deals along with vengenge in your heart and We The people will suffer because of it. NO THANKS. God Bless all the People of our Beloved Cayman Islands. Now is our turn. Michel Lemay.
You get the government you deserve
I hope it’s time that God can overcome the forces of Satan. Please do not vote for this man!
Unfortunately, historically we have seen the crowd chose Barabas over our Lord.
Cora Grant, who was the M/C commanded the stage and had the audience in a frenzy with her compelling comments and high energy delivery. Bush knew what he was doing when he got her to lead the meeting, with only one left for the 21st.
In my opnion, Cora Grant has the same charismatic qualities as the former premier and should herself have been a candidate. She would have been the ideal woman to have on the ticket.
At last she has revealed her true colours – green, green, green.
Because charisma is the most important quality in an MLA, right. Millions of Germans thought that in the 1930's, and look where it got them.
That sugar head fifth grader absolutely will stop at nothing less than disgracing himself and the entire Cayman Islands straight through the gates of hell. With half of third grade West Bay supporting him. What a mess.
Those 500 supporters of Mac should really consider the future of Cayman and put that ahead of anything else. West Bayers should be ashamed for continuously inflicting this man on the rest of Cayman.
The illiterate, lazy assed, weed-head population of West Bay will ruin this country no longer. So help us God.
This is what years of "Voter Entitlement Training" will do for you. Bush is a master at this and you have got to come hard to beat him, or at the very least you have to play the same game and buy buy buy those votes!
Pathetic state of affairs. 11 Criminal charges and this man rises like a Phoenix. is it any wonder our young girls in WB are idolizing the Gun Men and Gangsters?
Cayman has become lawless and desperate because of all of the years of Bush and his "Keep um dumb andunda yer thumb politics"
May God have mercy on our souls!
I only pray that people vote straight PPM in GT and WB because if people split their votes again we will see Premier Bush back in the saddle!
They will get the government they deserve.
MB and the UDP are going to win in West Bay.
That's cool. They'll just have to answer to the new government from all the other districts.
