| 17/06/2014

(CNS): Over 960 people signed up for the 22nd Annual Flowers sea swim this past holiday weekend, setting a new record for the race, which drew Olympians and elite swimmers from around the world to compete and hundreds to watch the open water spectacle. More than $100,000 of prizes and rewards were handed out to the competitors that swam the ocean course from the Ritz-Carlton to Royal Palms in the welcomed calm conditions. The race, which is one of the most important annual sporting event in Cayman’s emerging sports tourism calendar, was won by Mateusz Sawrymowicz in 18 minutes, 9 seconds followed by Keri-Anne Payne and Jake Zakale.

Not just you, buddy. The whole thing is a load of crap. Imagine if Frankie said he was going to have a sponsored litter pick-up? How many of the fame seekers would show up?

We promote such skewed values. When you promote success for the elite, only a few actually make it, yet everyone is capable of success. Some just don't need a podium.

The are parents bringing up children, farmers growing food for us all to eat, policemen keeping us safe (I hope), nurses tending to our wounds and teachers helping us learn. No, only the podium will do. No wonder we are all screwed up.

Thanks for the courage to speak your mind. You are not alone.

To the parents whoare pushing their children to get on the podium at all costs. Stop it. You are not doing them any favours. In spite of what you have been told, humanity is not a race. It is a shared experience where the most powerful weapon we have is love for each other.

      Wake TF up, PLEASE!

13.24-oh dear oh dear oh dear. One of the biggest fund raisers on the island all for good LOCAL causes and you gotta try and pi$$ on the parade. This year the funds raised going to swim clubs to help teach (over time) all Caymanian kids to swim- a noble and potentially life saving skill, plus an added fitness tool. In the past other very good causes have been supported, if I recall correctly last year was the Cancer Society.

But no, you gotta diss it, the biggest event in Cayman which pulls in people from all over the world and gets Cayman good press as being a fantastic, well run and organised event, and show cases our wonderful 7 mile beach.

Oh boy, tell you what, you don't like it, just stay away and stop commenting. I hope you never have need for any of the services this event rasises money for. That would be a bummer, wouldn't it? I sometimes think certain elements of Cayman society suffer from suicidal tendencies-they just want to kill Cayman.

It was not Frankie's fault that block drop on your head and woke you up.

Go T H back to sleep you idiot.

How is this or any swim meet skewing your values? you gotta have some before they can be skered.

Maybe all that tattoo ink skewed your brains. Your comments of "when you promote success for the elite" says alot about your brought up sy, racist if ever I know any. If you did the swim, some of that ink might have came of and you might have ended up on the podium.

These ignorant comments are so out of touch with reality. but alas, its the white man's fault. And for the record you tattoed idiot, there are a lot of ELITE black families around.

Sports was always promoted around the world as non racial, and now you have to get my blood boiling so early to suggest that this swim event was for the "Elite". How dare you?

Ohh and lets wait until they have a skateboard event that you can post again how it does so much for the "under class", those elite families better not bother to show up.

It too early for idiots like you to be awake. Go back to sleep and when you get up you can always "mama I is hungry". again.
